Re: West Ham Utd v Hull City: match thread
Having the privilege of the replays we get as Foreigners via the TV, i actually thought the Ref wasn't one of the worst we've seen this season even though initially i thought he got some decisions wrong ( when he didn't ), far from it in fact.

I'll defer to your greater knowledge then Bob, I've only seen it live.Bobby Orangeboom wrote:Having the privilege of the replays we get as Foreigners via the TV
No elbow on Tomka? The O'Neil challenge? Hold on Green for the goal? To name but three.

He was in a great position to see the Tonka incident, initially I thought that O'Neill took the shot and then hit the bloke on his follow through, but the replay showed it should or could have been a red, but at the time I didn't think so. Greeny should have been seen by the lino.

Re: West Ham Utd v Hull City: match thread
1 ) Just an arm up, used as leverage to me. Not a definitive nasty elbow, no. It was Garcia anyway wasn't it ? No chance that was malicious.Up the Junction wrote:

2 ) Was going for the ball and again no malice i didn't think, just maybe a bit late but the Guy was trying to stop a shot from a very good position so he's going to make a challenge.
3 ) No way, 5'11 Connor >> 6'3 Green and he had another foot advantage with his hands but wasn't nowhere near strong enough on teh challenge. Horror moment from Demel, but the Keeper was poor there.

And even with the replay I am not convinced he completely had "possession" of the ball for the Baldock challenge.

Re: West Ham Utd v Hull City: match thread
We played well to 2-0, we would have won by 3 or 4 had we played at the same tempo to the end. The game was dead and we did the right thing taking off important players, I though Vaz Te looked tired from the start. Once Cole and Vaz Te were off we couldn't boss their back 4 around and the game turned a bit. Hull are a decent side and will be up there next season, we really dominated the game to 2-0.
No one fancies us in the play offs (my Cardiff supporting mate was desperate to avoid us!) as we are way ahead of the rest, this is West Ham though.

So 1) and 2) probably should have been free kicks - at the very least - and 3) a mystery how Connor managed to climb highest in those circumstances.Bobby Orangeboom wrote:5'11 Connor >> 6'3 Green and he had another foot advantage...
Or am I reading that wrong, Bob?

Fraction of a second thing that the ref is always going to err on the side of safety. (I did think the same thing at the time but in replays they/southampton would have had an argument....court case...law suit....AAAARGGGHHHHH!!!!!! )Cuenca 'ammer wrote:And even with the replay I am not convinced he completely had "possession" of the ball for the Baldock challenge.

Did anyone else notice that RICOH were the match day sponsor?
I laughed my arse off at that.

Re: West Ham Utd v Hull City: match thread
1 ) It was just a challenge i thought. Sometimes you get them as free kicks and by the letter of the law i guess it could have been but it was just a challenge for the ball that sometimes gets given as a foul and sometimes don't. Again if it was the other way round and our player was to get in trouble for it i'd have been livid, i would have personally had a moan about a free kick being given too as i thought he was just using his arms like he needed to, as leverage.Up the Junction wrote: So 1) and 2) probably should have been free kicks - at the very least - and 3) a mystery how Connor managed to climb highest in those circumstances.

2 ) Maybe, unless he felt he played the advantage as the shot got away maybe, i don't know. Maybe he saw it as O Neil actually kicked through the ball >> foot which was sort of how i saw it really.
3 ) Make no mistake, Green wasn't strong enough & failed to take control of that instance, he should have punched, instead he looked to me like he was gonna try to catch and was out muscled when he never should have been given the advantages he had on the Fella..

We could have won by six today and it wouldn't have mattered. We are on the front foot and from now we have to make sure that we win and draw one of the next two. See simples
