Been home an hour and just watched the first half again.
I was in their main stand, 2nd tier just above the Cardiff dugout, surrounded by Cardiff fans.
You know that uncontrollable, automatic reaction you get when you're on the edge of your seat and 'it' happens? Well, that was me when Jack scrambled his first into the City net. I exploded! Stood there, arms out wide, screaming "Yeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssss, Get in there!"
Cue what seemed like the whole of that side of the ground turn in my direction, while I sat down with a polite nod and a wave as the security ran across to tell me to calm down and wind it in.
It was a few minutes before I realized what I'd done and where I was, but f*** it, it was too late. I turned to my nephew (a gooner) who was creased up in the next seat, while quite a few murmurs from the guys around me could be heard.
I made a determined effort to sit still for Jacks second, sitting on my hands with a daft grin on my face, nodding profusely.
I half expected someone to give me a dig at half time, but no, not a word. Made a sharp exit at the final whistle mind, then waited for the OB to let the traveling fans (who were awesome) leave the ground in the coaches and hightailed it down the M4 to home. Passed a few of the coaches just before we got off the motorway, too, so safe journey to all those that made the trip.
I thought we played superbly as a team tonight. We rode the initial storm and then took control. Everyone put in the effort required for a tough visit to Cardiff and we looked pretty comfortable overall to be honest. Cardiff weren't too threatening in front of goal and I don't think Green was really tested.
Tomkins and Reid at the back were immense as a partnership. CC worked his b*llocks off leading the line. Jack stumped up with two so he's getting back on track. I think Vaz Te took a knock early on and couldn't run it off so hopefully he'll be OK for the 2nd leg.
I can't fault the team performance in all honesty.
Roll on Monday night at The Boleyn.
