The lads have been back in training about a week , it was a scratch side , with players being deliberately played out of position so as to reinforce the message it's a kick about to get the muscles warmed up and some air in the lungs .......

I doubt we will see the starting line up for the new season before the final warm up game against the Portugeezers .

I'm not stressed pinky (yet anyhow) and hope we add Clyne, Richardson and two proven centre backs in the next month. My point was more to emphasise the bodies in defence point as the GD thread seems so obsessed with attacking players.

Yep, your views are the same as mine on the defensive cover, or lack of it .Managers , especially experienced ones , are not averse to fielding weak sides in certain areas to emphasise to the Board where they need to spend some money ........

How confident are we that we will get these players in ? The 2 listed would please me. Not sure on which 2 CHs though ? I still think our marquee signing should be a CH. If we don't concede, it puts less pressure on the forwards to get a result..

Indeed. At this stage a friendly is 99% about fitness. We might well be short in some areas for the premiership but you cannot deduce that from this game
