FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt

Rot-Weiss was founded in 1966 through a merger of Fortuna, KWU and Turbine clubs. The orginal Erfurt club was SC Erfurt, but it was not restarted after WWII.
Turbine was considered one of the stronger teams in the eastern zone immediately after the war, winning the title in 1954 and 1955. When soccer was
reorganized in 1965, Turbine oddly became one of the few clubs in the GDR not to have some type of "socialist" name. Instead, they became known as
FC Rot-Weiss Erfurt. Generally, they were a midtable club in the DDR-Oberliga.

After reunification, Erfurt was able to do well in the new Oberliga Nordost, and on that basis, was seeded into the 2.Bundesliga, but dropped immediately.
From then on, they were a fixture in the eastern 3rd division.

Erfurt was never in the running in 1998-99, and needed to regroup to see if they could challenge next season. In a hard fought campaign, they managed to
gain a playoff spot and subsequently qualified for the new combined Regionalliga. There was somewhat of a disappointment in that Erfurt was seeded in the
south group, removing some of the natural rivalries with other ex-GDR clubs. The season started out decently, but soon collapsed.

Erfurt was only spared relegation due to finanicial problems of some other squads. Suprisingly, they seemed to solidify over the next couple of seasons,
and maintain their 3rd division status. Although the on-field success in 2003/04 was strong early on, financial difficulties reared their head.

The match is one of three taking place during West Ham's pre-season trip to Germany. Sam Allardyce and his squad head to mainland Europe on 23 July before
taking on Rot-Weiß Erfurt (25 July), Dynamo Dresden (27 July) and FC Energie Cottbus (29 July).
Rot-Weiß Erfurt finished fifth in the 3.Liga table, just two points off the automatic promotion places, and lost just nine of their 38 league matches.
The club twice won the East German Premier League title in 1954 and 1955 and were twice East German Cup runners-up in 1950 and 1980.
Among the club's first-team squad is Englishman and former Reading full-back Rhys Tyler.

Would like to see Maiga, Kazim Richards and Maynard all get a good run out for this one. Maynard and Kazim Richards sounded lively at the Colchester game from the text updates at least. Hope Nolan isn't injured and get's a few more minutes playing time.

I have an (Arsenal-fed) aversion to teams who play in red & white ... and when a team calls itself red-white that's about the limit for me.

Interviews taken from....

http://www.rot-weiss-erfurt.de/news/det ... ews-12.htm

Yesterday we spoke exclusively with West Ham United club captain Kevin Nolan, born in Liverpool and in a year when the "hammer". Two days before the match in the Steigerwald he expresses his joy, a part of the preparation season games in Germany, to make one of them in Erfurt, and looks forward to welcoming me. He also anticipates some English fans and hopes in Erfurt that the grandstands. His key points in the original, you can read here:

"We are really looking forward to coming out to play in Germany as part of our pre-season schedule. While we know we will have a great many of our own fans traveling from home, we will also be looking forward to playing in front of We have many German football fans three games while we are here, one of Which is against FC Rot-Weiss Erfurt, our first game out there -. so we are looking forward to this and hope to put on a good performance for everyone As. a club, I am sure we will be warmly welcomed by everyone while we are there - this is an important part of our pre-season and to be playing against these clubs and staying in Germany is something we have been looking forward to and hopefully we will get to meet many people while we are there. In advance, I would like to say thank you to everyone who will be coming to watch us play and as I said, will be giving us a great welcome I am sure. "

Today, more We speak with Mark Noble, West Ham's player of the year! tickets for the game on Wednesday night are still available.

The newly elected team of the new Captain Nils Pfingsten-Reddig is expressed in an interview about the chances of FC RWE in the league and he mainly been on the guest performance by West Ham United in London on Wednesday says.

Nile, there was not anything surprising to you how much you were elected by secret ballot as the new captain? Yes, I was taken aback a little bit already. But then I thought it's great when I am apparently viewed the team as well. the weekend started the championship. Unfortunately, with a defeat. Where we are headed this time? That is to say very seriously. The league is filled class, this time with big names. We must not spin and have to see how the next run games. In Wiesbaden we were beaten perform well. If we can score three points against Heidenheim and Hall could also take a point, then we are on track. To start the league this time around are two high-class friendlies. Last week against the champions from Dortmund, West Ham United is now on Wednesday evening. Are you looking forward to West Ham Utd.? Yes, of course. Against the champions and cup winners, so come to Germany's best team gave us all a great thing, even if we can play better, or even need. However, I personally am on West Ham United still hot. It's not every day that such a traditional English club since times just comes around the corner and looked over at us. Premier League feeling in Erfurt ...... man, that's a killer! The game against Dortmund was virtually sold out. At West Ham is still air. do you think the cabin is still full? I can only hope. This is a great atmosphere. It might be cool to have fans from England. If the actual pitch and the singing would come, then that would be a fabulous mood. In addition, there drizzle (lacht!) and this would be a typical English flair in no time there! But it looks just like summer. I can only hope that our fans do not miss the thing can be. Two days later, the play so well again in Dresden, and since the stadium was sold out within a week, as I've heard. In this case the television game show in Dresden still live. If we do not live camera, which means who can not attend, sees nothing of it.

 I think it may have lost something in translation. And strangely enough if you look at a translated version of the actual site, both interviews randomly end with the words World Cup. Something odd occurring!

Midfielder Mark Noble has been playing in the youth of West Ham United. Later he was hired by the club for a year each to Hull City and Ipswich Town, before returning in 2006 in the Boleyn Ground to West Ham. He has since been a firm support and crowd favorite. In an interview with us he was pleased with the trip to Erfurt, where no player from West Ham ever was. Mark wishes all Zuschauernam Wednesday a good time with this game. His original statement is read in the following:

"It is a great thing for the club to come to Germany and have part of our pre-season there. I know we are very much looking forward to the games but that is staying in Germany as well. The matches we know will be good. As a club, we have never met or played against FC Rot-Weiss Erfurt, so this will be another experience for all the players to enjoy. We aim to make the most of our time in Germany, getting through the games and improving our fitness before the start of our season back home. We hope everyone will enjoy the matches. " Tomorrow we will have an interview with the coach of the London and get it set here. The BOX OFFICE for the game will be open on Wednesday! WM

Before tomorrow's game of the Premier League West Ham United at the riser Rot-Weiss Erfurt I had the opportunity to talk with the coach in London. . Sam Allardyce is one of the most prestigious Headcoches in England, trained before including the Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United tomorrow night, it offers probably the following team on: West Ham United FC : 13 Henderson - 2 Reid - 5 Tomkins - 7 Baldock - 9 Carlton Cole - 11 Lletget - 14 Taylor - 21 Mon Diame - 23 Morrison - 27 Jordan Spence - 33 Potts replacement: a Jääskeläinen - 3 McCartney - 4 Nolan - 8 Maynard - 12 Vaz TE - 16 Noble - 32 ONeil Tickets for the game are at the box office still available!

Mr. Allardyce, congratulations to regain lost ground in the Premier League. But it was for your Teame hard work, especially in the last game against Blackpool. They were in the highly competitive games at Wembley a few years older? Of course we wanted to create an immediate promotion to the Premier League, but at the end of the victory at Wembley was also a fantastic way to do this. Although it was an exciting and dramatic day to see our fans after the final whistle at the celebrations, it was worth the effort.

What is your target for next season? Our first priority, as are the other clubs, the risen, it is in the Barclays Premier League to stay. In addition, we must show no fear and remind us of the games of the best teams in the world because they are the reason why we wanted to go back to the Premier League.

We have heard from the newspapers that she went to Andy Carroll and / or Dimitar Berbatov are interested. Is that true? 's what I've already talked about last week. We are interested in Andy Carroll, but we have also understood that many other teams have already negotiated with Newcastle and are therefore not very optimistic that there is an obligation. Dimitar Berbatov was just speculation by the media. London has many famous clubs in the Premier League. What are your fans in the eyes of the biggest rivals in the city and why?

This season we will be there with five other clubs from London in the Premier League have to do, which means that we have this season will be ten derbies. All games will be very hard for us, but our fans will support us in the past season at home and away games again.

I think the fans will tell you that we in the games against Tottenham and Chelsea has the largest expect. Erfurt is glad a club like West Ham United to face, with regard to the European Cup final 1965th The team was filled with many famous names such as Bobby Moore, G. and P. Hurst Lampard. By the way, I think of in connection with Hurst. How is the old question: in 1966, goal or no goal at you now "solved" In England, the Russian linesman, the goal of any such thing as a hero. We are glad he did. But on balance we do not get the goal against Germany by Frank Lampard in the last World Cup in 2010. We quit. Some words about the difference between German and English football. I personally think that the Premier League the most exciting league in the world.

There will be played fast and hard. Other leagues in Europe have generally slower, but are technically at a higher level. We look forward to playing in Germany, because we know how loud and passionate the fans are here. Would you like to train in the future, a club from the Bundesliga? At the moment I am very happy in West Ham. But I know that the league is considered high, so we'll see what shows in the future. Have you or someone else on your team ever heard of Erfurt and was a tourist here before? We know the Erfurt is an exciting club that compete against us in the game with a loud and large amount of fans. Some of my players were already active in Germany, so we know what we can expect from this game.

RW Erfurt is the third in league play last week against the German champions Borussia Dortmund lost 0-4. What do you think of the strength of the league, even if you think that Newcastle have lost last weekend against Chemnitz, another club from the third division? We know that we must prepare ourselves for a tough game. We already had tough games against clubs from the lower leagues in England.

We will not take this game on the easy Schulte. If you start with your best team? Erfurt and its 10,000 spectators are expected this. We look forward to the game and on the large amount of spectators in the stadium. We have a very strong team to try to help young, aspiring players to our development. We will also bring a few hundred fans. Our fans expect a strong team and look forward to an exciting game. Thank you for your time. World Cup
