I don't think they gave NL5 back so probably took the full allocation mate.HarrowInnHammer wrote:How many tickets have Sunderland sold?

Fair play, didn't expect that, although they have a decent fanbase.RyanWHUFC wrote:I don't think they gave NL5 back so probably took the full allocation mate.

Agree, just made a similar point in the Norwich thread.ultimatehammers wrote:O'Brien's got to move over and challenge Demel for the right back position, he gets caught out at left back, lucky so far not to be punished. McCartney to come in at left back and O'Brien right back for me. Jarvis will come in probably for Taylor.

Re: West Ham United v Sunderland: Match Thread
Why are people wanting Demel dropped? Been to both home matches this season and he's been faultless. Really come on as a player and has been our 2nd best defender this year, behind Reid. Not been to either of the aways, but seen them both on the box, and seemed that he hasn't done to badly at all.
Re: West Ham United v Sunderland: Match Thread
A winnable game , 3 points would be fantastic.
Need to be more clinical in the attacking areas of the field.

Linda, Maiga & Jarvis to play from the start - they all deserve their chance and can't play any worse than the players they should replace from the line up who started against Norwich and all looked off the pace.

Even more alarming... it is to accommodate O'Brien who has looked shocking at times!LincolnshireHammer wrote:Why are people wanting Demel dropped?

We just need our attacking midfielders Nolan, RVT, Jarvis, Taylor or Yossi whoever plays to support our striker.
Against Fulham they where running in behind AC, putting pressure on their defence,
this weekend they where all standing in the midfield watching how CC did against 4 men.

Would obviously help us a lot if Adam Johnson is still out for this. They looked decent against Liverpool as it was - think a draw could be likely unless we can manage another clean sheet and keep Fletcher and McLean quiet

Re: West Ham United v Sunderland: Match Thread
Hawkins' team is the nuts...
We need to bridge the gap between a solid defence which can mop up most attacks,
and potential match winners in Jarvis, Cole, Vaz Te and, hopefully,Maiga.
Players who can receive/win the ball 15 yards in their own half and progress by bursting, or interpassing, well into the opponents half to get a telling pass away..
Noble? Under orders to stay deep.
Taylor,Nolan? Not enough pace/guile
Diame and Yossi fit the bill, although Diame needs to come back deeper to look for the pass from defence and interchange with Noble if necessay.
Stick with width on just one side...with a solid defence unit O'Brian or McCartney can bomb on down the left if the situation presents itself, knowing Noble or Reid will cover
Come on Sam, "resting" Nolan once wont damage your integrity..

Don't you have to have some integrity before you can damage it?irving boleyn wrote:

Re: West Ham United v Sunderland: Match Thread
my 1st home game in 2 years & my 1st time in BML so hoping for a good result & atmosphere
I think Nolan needs to play more forward like the Fulham game as he was always a threat & hopefully get a goal or 2.

Re: Carroll - Big Sam said if he is back before 6 October, our medical team would have done a fantastic job. Nothing about "being lucky" was mentioned. Big Sam is no mug and would not give away when Carroll would be likely to return. I've still been lead to believe that he still remains an outside chance for the bench next Saturday, with Arsenal on 6 October as a more than comfortable starting return date.
With all recent performances and injuries in mind, I would go with the following for Sunderland:-
-----------------------------------Jussi---------------------------------
Demel----------------Reid-------------Tomkins-----------Taylor
----------------------------------Noble---------------------------------
----------------------------------------Diame-------------------------
Vaz Te-------------------Nolan-----------------------------Jarvis
---------------------------------Cole-----------------------------------
Subs: Henderson, Collins, Linda, Diarra, Benayoun, Maiga, Carroll
Tomkins in for Collins as I feel Collins had a pretty poor one Saturday. Reid saved him quite a few times and he is backing off too much - against Fletcher I thinkk Tomkins will cope better.
Taylor at left back to cope with the pace of Adam Johnson, and push on to link with Jarvis. Taylor & Jarvis, with Vaz Te swapping wings gives us better delivery and I think Johnson would turn both Linda and O'Brien inside out.

Outside of the top 6 is there a better impact sub than Carroll in the whole of the Premiership? I'm not sure there is. I fancy him to make the difference from the bench

Incidentally - even in his tiny cameo on Saturday, Yossi looked the nuts.

There's no doubting it, he's a very good footballer. I cannot wait to see Jarvis, Carroll & Yossi in the same 11Aceface wrote:Incidentally - even in his tiny cameo on Saturday, Yossi looked the nuts.

The thing with Rodgers is that he has stated (like Barca) that he isn't interested in going to Plan B. If Plan A isn't working they just keep trying until it does (or doesn't).Yea Why Not wrote:Outside of the top 6 is there a better impact sub than Carroll in the whole of the Premiership?
