I'd like to see Hall and Diarra on the pitch, and Nolan given a much needed rest. Would love to go through, this could be our best chance of silverware.
Are you sure about it? Tuesday is eve of Yom Kippur and it's actually on Wednesday.
So i guess it's a matter of when the fasting begins on Tuesday compared with when the game is.

Really looking forward to ths one, and given the low turn out from the Wigan fans I may pop around to their entrance and greet them personally , sort of thank them for coming .Honestly I've hosted better attended dinner parties .

As for the game , my line up would be

----------------------Jussi-----------------------

Demel------Collins-----Reid-------JoB

-------------Diame--------Noble-------------

Jarvis---------Cole------Nolan-------Hall

5 wins from Europe .

Wouldn't go that weak. That midfield would get torn a new one by Wigan.

I think every player who was on the bench vs Sunderland needs a start as well as Diarra. I'd like to see more of Hall, Potts, etc but I wouldn't like to see 11 changes to the starting line up. Maybe retain O'Brien and play him in a different position, Nolan to start so long as he's not in need of a rest.

Noble and Reid have played 5 full PL games - only 2 outfield players to do so and have been the top 2 performers so far, so they, IMO, deserve a bit of a rest. Diarra and Tomkins are like for like replacements. Demel seems to be our only pick at RB so, might be a good idea to protect him and take another look at Spence. Diame might want to play against his old club but I would save him for QPR away 6 days later, O'Neil can do a job in the middle with his energy and work-rate.

Image

This might seem a bit strong for the cup but if we are doing well at HT Jarvis and Nolan can be replaced by the likes Hall and Vaz Té early in the 2nd half. I feel this is the type of game for Vaz to turn on the style and get himself on the scoresheet.

I have been told that Diarra can play at CB. If that is true then......

------------------Henderson-------------

O'Brien---Diarra---Tomkins----McCartney

O'Neil----Noble-----Tomkins------Taylor----Hall.

-----------------Maiga------------------------

Why not swap Diarra and Tomkins around? Makes sense?

I agree. It'll be easier to give the effect of two of him playing at once if they're side by side

Any particular reason you'd go for Fanimo on the right hand side of midfield ?

What a bizarre team. Turgott is a right winger, Fanimo is a left back/left winger, O'Brien is definitely NOT a winger and Diarra at CB instead of CM.

It would be nice if Hall could get a half, at least, and Tomkins the 90. Maybe even see Diarra too.

I've just looked up Wigan's squad - I wouldn't say that they're a bunch of nobodies, but, by the same token, there are quite a few non-household names. They've kept one clean sheet in the season so far, but also scored in every game bar one.

I wouldn't be surprised if

1. There's an element of experimental about both starting 11's, and
2. They were both set up to avoid extra time.

I want to see a full strength side with maybe 2-3 youngsters thrown in.
We should be taking this seriously, big chance for a place in Europe and Silverware.

Expect a reserve team from us and a youth team from them.

Expect a home win.

Rounded up a 20 strong army for tonight and it's the first game I'm going to since the play off final and I'm feeling lucky again. Cheeky fiver on Maiga first goal scorer and a 3-1 win... you heard it here first!
