First game of the season for me and looking forward to it

Have a feeling that we will win 2 - 1

Would like to see:

However likely to see Nolan start in place of probably Jarvis, with Diame moving out wide.
Reckon Cole will grab a goal as well

Agree with this 100%, would be very interesting to see CC with the service that Downing, Jarvis & Morrison can provide. Really think Morrison adds another dimension to the attack that Nolan doesn't.

In terms of stating the obvious, three points would be most welcome.

We now have seven games in the next six weeks that include five relegation contenders. We really must do quite a bit better than we have been doing so far in terms of points if we are aiming for midtable again.

Every place lost takes £1 million out of the kitty.

Intrigued to see whether Sam goes with 4-5-1 as indicated by the OP, or sticks with 4-6-0.

We're playing Villa - relegation candidates - at home.

FWIW, they have picked up 7 points from 4 away games this season. That's a good record.

Vila were a terrible team, they are most certainly not that bad now. This is a huge game for us, we need to stop the rot at home, three defeats in the league on the spin is not good enough. And if we win it sits us nicely mid table.

Problem is, you can't take Benteke out. He can win a game by himself in a few seconds. Because of that, they're dangerous however the rest of the team play

Looks like it'll be 4-6-0 again, with Carlton getting a run-out second half if we come under pressure/are losing. Sam could be fibbing, of course.

sam says "Matt Taylor is definitely out, James Tomkins I think will be ok and the rest of the injured players will not figure in Saturday's squad against Villa. It leaves us with quite a big problem in terms of numbers. We're very short of first team squad players available for Saturday so it's about getting on with the job and using the players we've got available and making sure they try and bring us the three points at home that we're looking for. We've been hugely disappointed with our points total, not our performances, and that must be the key factor in what we want to achieve on Saturday. When we've come off the field we must have accumulated more points to our total because continuing to lose at home is now not acceptable, well it's never acceptable and we must stop it on Saturday"
