I'm afraid you're wrong mate.Collins struggles badly with back passes (most notably Swansea away 2012/13).I've said it before and will say it again .... Reid and Tomkins SHOULD BE our centre back partnership.
Btw,I've just opened up an account with 888sport.com especially to take advantage of the 4/1 !!! they are offering on Allardyce winning the sack race.Massive odds for the (hopefully) inevitable.
We're s*** and we know we are !! Sad but oh so dismally true.
After this, I am going to the bookies and putting £20 on us getting relegated.
I have seen nothing, absolutely nothing to suggest that we have changed anything since last season. New signings might as well not be there if Sam is grimly determined to stick with the same players as last year, and we are still woefully slow, ponderous and frankly shambolic in terms of our build up play. And it isn't just Sam...the owners are an embarrassment, an utter disgrace and totally unfit to run a football club.
Expansive football mean men getting forward, allardyce isn't comfortable with that, he will only ever expect 1 full back, the 2 wide men, and the attacking midfielder and striker to be forward at the same time, so at least 5 outfield players back at all times. If we want to get more men forward then we need more pace in defensive midfield and defence to avoid being vulnerable to counter attack, that means noble has to be shifted forward and Collins can not play
Doesn't help when he plays the same that were so ineffective for most of last season. Toothless, no end product, no other plan than play it down the wing and cross it. All very embarrassing.
Absolutely no sign of a change in playing style either.

Diame is totally sick of it all, it couldn't have been clearer looking at his face against Wellington. He had probably made his mind up by the time we played Burnley last year
Sick of wasting every oppprtunity to shoot by blasting it into row z or scuffing it into the keepers hands? Hopefully he'll disappear.

There were several signs last night, as mentioned in my match report on the home page. But as Elsie said earlier:
If the board wanted #whufc playing in a different way they needed to hire a guy that did things the way they (now) want them done, not just try to force the old guy to change. You don't hire Rembrandt to paint you a Picasso.

He did not. Which is mind boggling considering Sam's defence of the game last night was our new attacking style is very much work in progress. Work in progress while our new 'attacking' coach suns himself in Ibiza.

Yes I'll take some of that back, I'm obviously still a bit emotional about the whole thing Definitely less long balls as you mentioned in the article (which as ever i enjoyed and read with interest). I have to agree with Elsie as none of my Picassos have been painted by Rembrandt but I do believe that Alladyce with all his experience, has it in him to play a more entertaining game or at least one with a little more variation.

I agree, duncan. The bit I have an issue with is expecting to see instant results. Though some will argue, successfully, that our players should be technically capable of beating either of the A-League sides regardless.
Lots of concern around our attacking capabilities but the defence and porous nature of our central midfield definitely needs tightening before season starts
Teddy in my opinion does not have a real job here, it's a made up position to appease fans, he isn't going to be at away games, but will be present at home matches.

That sounds much more like a coaching philosophy that needs changing than the players. I haven't seen the game but we've regularly looked ponderous and pedestrian. Judging from these comments, we didn't flatter ourselves in the last game.
