Re: West Ham United v Sampdoria: Match Thread
Just watched the highlights and, the defensive mistakes aside, I like what I was watching.
It did make me laugh though, it literally took 3 seconds from kick off for the first good ball from Collins

If Diame's off to QPR use him as bait to get Remy
Chances of this actually materialising are very slim though, admittedly.

Just saw the Mo Diame goal from the highlights - almost as good as the Man U strike from the right back in 2013! Here's hoping he can continue to forge defensive gaps like that this season.

He wasn't really on the pitch long enough to make any valid judgement.lewis100985 wrote:To those that went... How did Poyet play?
From what I have seen of him in pre season though, he looks a quality buy. Very composed on the ball and doesn't mind putting his foot in either.

Brief cameo, but very composed and confident on the ball.lewis100985 wrote:To those that went... How did Poyet play?
Vaguely Carrick.

Cheers, missed that. Bit of a strange one, they must be waving a fair wedge at him.cockney hammer wrote: been linked with redwanker mate and a move to qpr

Diame should ask the last player who thought the grass was greener at QPR. Look what happened to him.

Cheers, I've got high hopes for Poyet if he's eased in right.

Wasn't expecting a very good game but was pleasantly surprised with our performance and style. Although Carlton wasn't very good I think 3-5-2 in the style we were playing would suit him quite well. One of his best stints at the club was playing with a slightly deeper, more creative striker (Di Michele, Franco). I'm not a fan of his but credit where it's due Sam. A nice positive way to finish pre season.

Sorry to hear that mate and I wish you a speedy recovery. If you don't make it on Satdee there'll be plenty of live streams listed here you can tune in to:towner wrote:...my herniated disc has taken its toll big time,i can't see myself at next weeks game either which will be the first opening day fixture i've missed in 18 years.

How did Reece Burke look? Loved his interception and run for his goal. Seems like he might get a chance this year if Ginge doesn't stop giving away daft goals.

He looked a bit unsure when he first came on. Played between Tomkins and Reid in a back 3 but seemed like everyone was talking to him a lot. Made a few good interceptions/tackles. Don't remember him being massively involved apart from the goal.

A few good touches but tended to try to do too much at times and run into trouble. Same could be said for Diame. Occasionally effective and very entertaining but can't see him being much of a team player.
