Win this game and we are guaranteed at least 6th place and European football next season (which will be huge for the new stadium and attracting potential talent over the summer)

I am desperate for us to finish in the top 6, we deserve it for the fantastic season we have had

Finish the season in style lads.

COYI!

I hope the emotion of last night and joy of beating Man U doesn't mean the players lose focus for this one. Yes last night was amazing but losing 3 points and, crucially, -3 goal difference on Saturday was a big blow.

This is a MUST win. I fully expect Southampton to smash Palace. A draw will see Southampton into 6th if they win, guaranteed. Just a shame we couldn't have kept the Swansea game down to 2-1 cos then a draw vs Stoke would have seen us guaranteed 6th and Europa (unless Southampton won by 3)

Ifs and Buts! Been a great season regardless, but I'm desperate for something to show for it :crest:

Hopefully Palace can nick a point (or all 3) at Southampton. A tough ask, but im sure they would like to go into the Cup Final with some momentum

Oh bugger, I'd forgotten about the cup final. Even less chance Palace will nick something - they will rest key players and first XI players that DO start will not want to get injured for the cup final :(

Absolutely necessary - unless Liverpool lose tomorrow, a draw at Stoke could still see us finish 8th!

It's probably also worth noting that Man Utd could also finish 8th! In which case, would 7th be enough for us to get a Europa League place? Do we need Man Utd to finish in the top 6 and win the FA Cup to open 7th up for us?

5th Man Utd p37 46:34 +12 63pts
6th WHUFC p37 64:49 +15 62pts
7th Sothptn p37 55:40 +15 60pts
8th Liverpl p36 61:48 +13 58pts

Significant remaining fixtures:

Liverpool v Chelsea

Stoke v WHUfc
Man Utd v Bournemouth
WBA v Liverpool

Stoke are the only opponent with anything reasonable to play for (a possible chance to finish above last season's champions [if Chelsea lose tomorrow], and also to consolidate a top half finish as Swansea could pip them).

So Man City's away game to Swansea will likely have a bearing on the motivation of our opponents.
Realistically, Man Utd can only displace Man City from the Champions League places if Swansea win, which would see Stoke needing a win to stay above them.

9th Chelsea p36 + 6 48pts
10th Stoke p37 -15 48pts
11th Swans p37 -10 46pts

Chelsea's remaining fixture is at home to Leicester.

We need a win to be certain! COYI!

NB/ Ireland being injured is a good thing for us, isn't it?

EDIT
I've overlooked the Liverpool winning the Europa League permutations here, so have reposted in the "Are We Going On A Eurpean Tour" thread.

You'd like to think that the importance of the game against Stoke will be clear to all involved - im sure Billic will be as desperate as anyone for us to remain in the top six and cap a quite fantastic season (if we can finish 6th we will also avoid those ridiculous Europa league qualifying rounds)

This is big business for the club and im sure the board will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of marketing European football at our first season in the Olympic Stadium

Hopefully the players can show no fear and deliver

Apparently their menu included oatcakes 'n'cheese served on a slab of old tile and a complimentary schooner of flat tizer.

Not if Palace win the FA Cup - we need 5th to guarantee going straight into the group stage

They may already be. Their last 5 matches: four defeats and a draw, 15 goals conceded and only 3 scored.

Think this will be tough, Stoke are on a poor run but will want to finish the season well in front of their fans. If we can keep it tight and score first I can`t see them busting a gut to get back level. After last night, maybe the heart will have gone out of Man U and perhaps Bournemouth can nick a point as well.

Cant wait to go to this Sunday.

One final game with it all to play for. Lets hope the players turn up and we end on a massive high.

Who knows we may even sneak 5th.
