West Ham Utd 0 Charlton Ath 0 (02/04/06)

Post by sendô »

Haven't seen one on here yet so here is my chance to start one :D

Now following on from last nights game, the main point for me would be Pards leaving out Anton for the in form Collins (which seems fair) and then subsequently bringing him on for Scaloni at RB.

Now I haven't seen last nights game so can't really comment on Lionel's performance, although I think it is fair to say he hasn't been in top form of late. Suffice to say there is a good chance of Pards sticking Anton in a right back on sunday?

So probable team

--------------------------Hislop-------------------------

Anton--------Collins-----------Gabbs--------Konch

Yossi---------Mullins----------NRC-----------Matty

Last night Ashton looked very slow off the pace, but then i guess thats fully expected playing against one of the best sides in europe.

For me, Scaloni has not looked like the player which i was led to believe he was when he first signed, and yes you can argue that he may need time to settle in bla bla bla, but for me he is not the RB we should be after.

Anton will come back into the defence replacing Ginge. I think with us doing so well in the cup, pards will want to get our league form back on track so Anton has to come back in.

Prediction - West Ham 2 -- Charlton 1

Team for me:

--------------------------Hislop-------------------------

Scaloni--------Anton-----------Gabbs--------Konch

Yossi---------Mullins----------NRC-----------Matty

Neither Ashton or Harewood were at the races last night.

Pardew has spoken many times about having a decent pool of strikers to choose from if others are not performing. Therefore I expect to see changes up top. Otherwise, whats the point in having a pool to choose from ?

Id like to see Bobby and Marlon start against Charlton with Deano on the bench.

Deano did little againts Man Utd and little against Wigan. That dosnt mean I dont like him, it just means that maybe Bobby should get a go.

Keep them on their toes Pards. No resting on their laurels.

completely agree!

I'll go for a 3-2, 2-0 for half time and then Charlton catching up to 2-2, late match winner from Z-man (he's bloody due one).

This game has "Goals, Goals, Goals" written all over it for me. I'd drop Collins and put Anton back in the centre. Hope Scaloni can put in a good performance, he needs to.

4-3 to the Irons I hope. D Bent grabs a hat-trick, Marlon gets a brace and Zamora scores another special. Will most likely be a drab nil-all after I've said that.

I think it’s important we play well in this game to set us up for the final stretch run and the FA Cup semi-final. We certainly want to show well against a team that we might face in that semi-final. Rest a player or maybe two if injuries require it but let’s get a strong side out there and win.

Prediction 3-1 WHU

If you see a fat American(redundant, yes) and his football-clueless father in the CL on Sunday, say hello. 8-)

A result last night wasnt expected and a result next Sunday is not really expected either.

A defeat on Sunday could see us easily slip down a few league places.

A win on Sunday is very important.

You wouldn't think we had a derby game on Sunday would you? this thread drops out - and if you look at Addicks sites all they care about is the cup replay.
I am actually lookingforward to this. I think we looked fairly lively at Old Trafford and I want revenge for our defeat at the Valley when I thought we were rather good for the first 20 minutes or so, only to get hit by two goodish goals on the break.
If we don't want to slip in to the bottom half we need to win this. it could be a very good game of football between two well-matched teams.

I make the 3-3 unless we get a goal just added to our tally , that would be nice

I was at the Valley but cannot remember who started.I am looking at the programme as I type this for inspiration but it was on 31 Dec and was pissed!
Were Yossi and Gabbs injured?Did Dailly play?I think Yossi came on late in the game.
We will have Yossi,Gabbs and Deano and feel quietly confident.
3-0 to us.

I'm disappointed in the response to this thread aswell. Seems people don't really care about league games against Charlton at the mo.

I view Charlton as the little London Prem side (them and maybe fulham) who we really should be beating. Maybe we are capable of hitting a few past them (memories of that 5-0 demolition a few years back spring to mind) but tbh I think it's more likely to only be a goal or 2 in it.

Could well be a warm up to the cup match, and a resounding victory over them could prove to be a big psycological bonus should they beat boro.
