Birmingham City 0 West Ham Utd 1 (18/08/07)
Here goes first time I've done a match thread.
Birmingham are nothing clever but will play as a team. Without the return of Neill and Parker and big Ginge and Gabbs at Centre, the best I can see is a draw. Really hopeI 'm proved wrong.
My team
Green
Neil
Ginge Gabbs
Linda
Painsil
Noble
Parker
Ethers
Bellamy
Ashton
Subs Wright
Ferdinand
Mullins
Zamora
Lunberg

i'm in the same boat you, i'm hoping i'll be able to bend my knee sufficiently to sit in a stadium seat, you might want to be quick about a ticket to, i got mine on wednesday and was told there weren't many left.Ben wrote:is there tickets left for this? i think someone said so the other day.
might go if so as i will finally be able bend my knee enough to sit in a football chair (or stand of course)

We need to see an improved performance, i think that is as important as the result... Now, i know people are going to hate the suggestion but i think we will need to win this game by playing dirty and focus on defence. A few (only a few though) earnt themself a place in the team (mullins, ethers) whereas a few others have achieved the opposite (zamora)
--------------------Green----------------------
Gabbidon---Collins-----Upson----McCartney
---------Noble---Ljungberg---Mullins----------
LBM---------------------------------Etherington
--------------------Bellamy
Over-run them in midfield (similar to how city showed us yesterday) and win the battle in the first half by grabbing a scrappy goal, then change the dimension of the team in the second half to make them more attacking!
I know alot will probably disagree, but f*** it

I'd go for this team:
--------------------------- Green ------------------------
----- Neill * -- Gabbidon -- Upson -- McCartney -----
----- Ljungberg -- Noble -- Parker * -- Etherington -
-------------------- Ashton -- Bellamy ------------------
* If Neill's out, which it looks like, I'd put Gabbidon on the right, and put Collins alongside Gabbidon at the back.
* If Parker is out, I'd put Ljungberg in the centre and put Paintsil on the right.
The worrying for me is the centre of midfield, presuming nobody else comes in before next Saturday. If Parker is out, then we don't have a lot of attacking flair and the ability to create goals, and although Ljungberg can be played there, then the right of midfield will be poor.
I'm aiming for a draw to be honest, although I can see getting beat 1-0. Birmingham performed brilliantly against Chelsea, and if we play like we did against City, then Birmingham will roll over us.
