I hope the Geordies use lube. Don't fancy getting any points, just hope our goal difference doesn't get ****ed.

We should have won 3 -v- 1 there last year (even allowing for LBM's volleyball efforts) because Parker's goal should never have stood when there was no real foul in the header that Davenport had chalked off.

I think that either Anton or Gabbidon will offer a little more in the way of a speedy response to Owen's play (as suggested above) and we've all got to hope that Neill feels a little more lively.

Can smell a draw in this, but wonder which out of the Barcodes and L'Arse are going to bring to an end our little run.

Things are really looking up if, say, we get so much as 2 points from our next two league games.

PS If Bellamy is unfit, I reckon Camara might start with Cole on the bench.

I can't believe some people are pushing for Boa Morte to play up front. Have you seen his finishing?

As well as they have done, I'm still thinking mullins and bowyer (especially) will get found out sooner rather than later

bowyer looked so far off the prem pace last season and in pre-season, that I can't believe its all changed overnight

all credit to him though...

mullins has always done a solid, unsung job

I say keep the same starters as we had v Boro. This time though Cole given another shot instead of Bellers. Freddie and go will need to earn their spot in the team.

Play Deano upfront on he's own and see how it goes. I'd fancy us being a bit more attacking if we were at home, but this is Newcastle away and Fat Sam's got 'em going well.

It'll certainly be a very tricky game.

Newcastle team v Derby

13 Harper
27 Taylor
06 Cacapa
04 Rozehnal
14 N'Zogbia
17 Smith
20 Geremi
22 Butt
16 Milner
10 Owen
23 Ameobi

IF WE CANT BEAT THIS LOT I'LL BE GUTTED.

They scraped a 1-0 against 10 man Wigan

Have been held by Boro

Outplayed by Villa

And beat Bolton - which means nothing

Oh...and they're losing to Derby

WE'VE WON 7 OF OUR LAST 8 AWAY FROM HOME

Me too, Newcastle away is always a tricksy game! Be good test of character for this team.

I'll settle for a draw as well. I fear a Geordie backlash if they lose to Derby.

Camara and Ashton to start up top if Zamora and Bellemy are out injured. Cole did play well but Newcastle is a different kettle of fish.

I'd be very happy with a draw from this.

I don't see how Ashton could play up front on his own, it requires a lot of running and he really doesn't look up to it at the moment. At one point on Sat I thought he was limping, definitely didn't look like he was running right anyway. If bellamy is out then I'd go with Ashton/Cole to start.

Difficult one for who to start in midfield though I'd probably stick with the same with Freddie coming on after an hour.

Squad is looking good though, we now have decent back up in most positions.

Providing we handle Owen I expect nothing less than a 2-3 goal victory if we are anywhere near full strength

Jesus, I wish I had your confidence. When did we go to a northern biggish club and win 3-0? Actually the last time was probably when we won 3-0 at the same place in the 98-99 season. I doubt it this time though. Plus fat sam has the rub of the green in results against us so far with bolton...

We may not even have to wory about Owen. Taken off against Derby with a groin strain last night. Big Sam may be forced to rest him, or put him on the bench - which would be nice :D

Green

Neill
Collins
Upson
McCartney

Mullins
Noble

Ljungberg
Bowyer
Etherington

Ashton

Subs:

Wright
Gabbidon
Solano
Boa Morte
Camara

That way, you make it tough for Newcastle to break the team down, while still offering the potential to break at speed, with Ashton holding the ball up and feeding oncoming midfielders.

Yeah, I like the idea of that, with Ljungberg in behind Ashton. I'm sure neither of them will mind either ;)
