Chelsea 1 West Ham Utd 0 (01/12/07)

Post by roblo »

So, the big one. I really think we can get a point here.

Haven't been there since we won 3-2 with that Di Canio screamer. Really looking forward to it now!

At a mate's in Bury St Edmunds Friday night so getting into Liverpool Street at 10.30. I guess there will be no where near to the ground that'll let us in, so anyone got any other plans for a few pre-match beers?

C'mon you irons!

I wonder whether Curbs will play Cole up on his own and flood the midfield in the same way he did at Portsmouth ?

Yeah I know but I don't really want to go drinking with a bunch of Chelsea fans! I guess I mean, "is there going to be any pubs with a lot of West Ham fans in?"

Id go with....

----------------------Green------------------------

Neill------Gabbidon-------Upson------McCartney

Solano------Noble------Parker-------Etherington

---------------Cole--------Ashton------------------

Bench:

Mullins
Boa Morte
Ljungberg
Zamora
Collins

No keeper on the bench would be more fun

You'd keep Noble in over Mullins after Sunday, Couttsy?!

I dont think we should really look at sundays piss poor performance from Noble too much. He obviously wasn't match fit at all. Hopefull with another week of extra training under his belt he'll start getting back to his best.

I would either go with scaloni's formation above or:

----------------------Green------------------------

Neill------Gabbidon-------Upson------McCartney

----------Noble-----Parker-----Mullins----------

---Solano----------------------------------Matty--

-----------------------Cole--------------------------

Possibly a point from this, but think chelscum will take all 3.

i am taking the piss a bit with taking days off for football so have to give this a miss. :( plus im not sure how far it will set me back financially being a student and that

my team would be:

--------------------Green---------------------

Neill----------Gabbs-------Upson-------McCartney

Solano------Mullins-----Parker-----------Matty

---------------Cole----Ashton (if fit, otherwise Boa)

True.

If he goes with 5 in midfield, we may see a trio of him, Parker and Mullins.
Parker and Noble if both fit, will be well up for the game and with Essien missing (?) we may have a good fight in there!

Solano.......Bowyer........Parker........Noble.......Etherington

....................................Cole...................................

If this cunning plan works Boa and Ashton will then come on to win the game late on...........next ?

I'd go with Noble, he has something to prove after the last match and he'll do it this time.

He'll be in deep poo fighting for a spot should all the injuries go away.

Three possible things in our favour.

1. Chelsea away in Europe on Weds.
2. Its an early kick off. (less time to recover) depending if he rests anyone.
3. Curbs was the last domestic manager to win at Chelsea I think (pens granted)

Now the negatives.....we are West Ham

I think that a lot will ride on whether Drogba is fit. I think he was kept back for their Champs League game tomorrow. He is easily their best striker, so it'd be a bonus if he didn't start.

Our full backs will have to be on top of their games too.

The key might be a 4-5-1, giving Mikel and Lampard as little time as possible to pick their passes. Its a shame that Bowyer misses this one. He would be well up for it.

As long as Etherington and Solano are prepared to put in full shifts each, there's gotta be the opportunity of a chance or two in the Chelsea box. We'll have to maximise any reasonable chances we get. Maybe another special from Solano?

Score draw or a Chelsea win, I'm afraid. Would be a real demonstration of AC's credentials to stop a Chelsea win on Saturday.

When did they last lose in the league at home?

Usually I'd say Cole.
But maybe Ashton's extra intelligence and technique may benefit us if we have runners from midfield, rather then someone who will work harder like Cole.

Though I reckon Cole will still get it for me, you cannot replace him at the moment especially the confidence he is gaining and being yet another ex-Chelsea player with a point to prove.
Bowyer could return in which case i'd go Bowyer, Mullins and Parker in the middle.
