Kovac , of course, was played out of position , so how can you honestly assess his ability .........

Something very dodgy at that Brescia club though remember they are a small tinpot club and we gave them a few mill for Savio (not the reported £9m BS duckers came out with) but still must have had 3-4 m off us where did that go? Surely they can afford to pay £1.8m FFS unless Nani and his father in law ran off with the Savio money?

Harsh on Jiminez, bubbles. His best position is behind the striker and Zola kept playing him on the wing.

Quality. Hope he starts our next game. Glad Prandelli is giving him the chance he deserves. If Italy win the Euros, he should be the one lifting the trophy.

Watching Diamanti today made me realise why we don't miss him, as soon as he gets on the pitch he takes a wild shot from a silly angle and distance (alright, at least he hit the target for onces), then gives away a silly foul or two, and he has a silly haircut.

Very likeable player... DG replied on Twitter to someone yesterday that we are still fighting to get our money from his transfer

Diamanti should get into American football. Then he can be the one that does nothing other than come on and kick the ball miles over the bar from range.

Exactly what he did at us in other words.

Yes, last night he played more as a trequartista. He has been most of this season.
At least it wasn't as a left or right midfielder, asking to track back, cover the full back and put in tackles on the egde of his own area! rollyeyes

JonG - The Trequartista himself - will be happy.

(Where's he gone, anyway?)

Thats a good record, especially as he isn't a striker

For West Ham United 28 apps (7) goals

Over half them were penalties and the other a free kick?

What does it matter? You still have to put the ball in the net. Bring him back the two Daves :raver:

It matters because your next best alternative from the penalty spot probably wouldn't have much of a different record from Diamanti. He missed one and should have had the Liverpool one chalked off as well.

In a very very very boring season he brought a bit of fun, and occasionally a bit of flair and excitement to the team. I particularly remember him shooting from near the halfway line against Hull and going pretty close, and thinking 'well this is more intersting than sitting here watching Kovac and Boa Morte miss-control the ball to one another to a chorus of groans (or thoughts to that effect, anyway. I probably just went '**** me, did you see that!' .

Players who 'do a job' are all very well, but somtimes it's nice to be entertained. I think a lot of posters are being a little unfair abaout his shooting as well. He was certainly no Obinna when it came to hitting the top tier. At least he had a go, and often created the shooting opportunities for himself anyway.

I therfore thought it was a real shame that he was sold off so quickly after just one season. Who's to say how good he could have been with a season under his belt.

I liked him (in case that wan't clear).
