Yet another Nolan assist. Is that 4 in 4 now? There will be a few fuming at that.

Kevin Nolan is by far and away the best supporting forward in this league (he's scored more than the likes of De Prado, Hunt and Zigic)

Problem is, people expect him to play in midfield, and he has played deeper for much of the year because of our weaknesses and defensive frailty in central midfield.

I need to see a replay of the first goal to confirm, but the BBC have Nolan down with an assist on the first goal today. That would be the fifth consecutive match he's assisted in. Nice work.

Tomkins and O'Neil with the others (so far?)

Cole's header for Bog Brush's hat-trick. Think it was Noble who played Cole in for the 5th. Noble's corner for the 6th. Bloody good day! :D

I completely agree. Can't believe this goal has [currently] been given to Cole.

West Ham 6-0 Brighton

Ricardo Vaz Te scored his first in the third minute after Kevin Nolan won the ball on the left and fed it inside to the striker, 30 yards from goal. Vaz Te's shirt was powerful, and flew through Peter Brezovan's hands at shoulder height.

And just five minutes later the former Bolton and Barnsley forward doubled his tally - and West Ham's lead - when he made it 2-0, nodding home Gary O'Neil's probing cross from no more than three yards despite being under pressure from an opposing defender.

With Brighton still recovering from a second fatal blow, Kevin Nolan took full advantage to make it 3-0 when he converted a Matt Taylor free kick that had been nodded back into the centre by James Tomkins.

It took a while for the next goal to come and Ricardo Vaz Te to complete his hat-trick. Henri Lansbury was appealing for a penalty after being pushed over in the 63rd minute, but play continued and Carlton Cole's header bounced up for Vaz Te to hook a spectacular shot over his shoulder and into the net.

Two minutes later it was 5-0 when Carlton Cole, who was a constant thorn in Brighton's side all afternoon, turned inside the box before firing across Peter Brezovan - with the aid of Henri Lansbury's ankle that lifted the ball over the despairing goalkeeper's dive. This will be confirmed as a Lansbury goal next week, IMO

And Brighton's misery was finally completed twelve minutes from time when the hapless Gary Dicker scored a shocker of an own goal when he inadvertently passed Mark Noble's corner into his own net.

If it had come off a Brighton player there would be no question really. Capped off an excellent performance from him as well. 3 in 3 home games, good stuff.

Leicester City 1-2 West Ham

Matthew Taylor’s cross from the touchline seemed innocuous enough but completely bamboozled the home defence and Winston Reid stabbed home at the near post.

And their superiority was rewarded when Gary O'Neil's shot was blocked but Jack Collison capitalised swiftly to arrow the loose ball into the corner. unassisted goal

You can see why Sam would like Taylor in the team.

In most games he gets into certain positions and he will put the ball where the defence don't want it, it is just a case of if our players are in the right positions. When they are it normally ends up in a goal.

A great outlet if it is used right.

Nolan failed to make a 2 yard sideways pass yesterday in the 90th minute which would have put us a goal nearer to promotion. Instead he tried to up his personal goal tally. That was the only disappointment in last night’s game for me

That a side, I thought he played pretty well...

It's taken me till now to realise how f*cking slow Matt Taylor actually is

Although credit where it's due, i think he's been a fantastic player for us this season, 10 assists and his been injured for large periods.

Yes, he's got a wonderful left foot but i think there's something to be said for his commitment to get into dangerous positions. Big Sam has brought some real battlers into this club but not many of them top Matty Taylor. His energy and eagerness is a joy to behold at times. He always seems to instantly strike up a partnership with whoever is playing on the left with him, especially with Linda, their partnership down the left has been imperative to us this season, especially as there's often been miss-matches on the right flank.

The only surprise is that he hasn't scored more goals but he's had a great season and he's still got Premier League life left in those legs.

Don't let that disappoint you too much.

Players do that in every single game and will continue to do so into the future.

I thought the same, Bob.
Beggars belief, that so-called professional writers cannot grasp a decent judgement of simple elements of the game.

Like most probably I read nearly all the reports on the games. This season most of the reports are woeful which begs the question how many of the reports are written by journos who have seen the games (or even the goals), and how many are copy journo's work rehashing someone else's work (which was also copy journalism)?

Quite. How can something that obvious be seen as innocuous?!

Dean Ashton (someone who should know a thing or two about it...) thought it was a cracking ball, and made the point that as a striker that is a perfect cross, as you don't have to move, just stick a leg out and guide it home

It does beggar belief, some of the shyte that gets printed (and that people get paid for writing...)
As Kaya says, you can't help feeling that some of these muppets haven't even seen the game, yet they present their opinions as all-knowing....
