Please avoid talking about the sectarian angle and stick to the topic of administration for a club of this size please

They have, and it was totally different than what Rangers did if I recall.

edit: Good to see they stick to their traditions of getting inspiration with their pals from Northern Ireland (about the jelly and ice cream song):

I had a read of Rangers last set of published accounts yesterday , relating to the season 2009/10 .

Their wages: turnover ratio was around 50% , which would be bettered by only 2 PL clubs iirc .

Clearly the absence of CL pool money has hurt them , but even if we lump in the £49m potential tax liability to the known one of £9m that has seen them enter administration there are at least 15 PL clubs with bigger debts , and possibly 2 or 3 championship clubs as well .

Their matchday income exceeds ours , and they sell more than twice as many ST's as we do .

They'll be fine , in time .

Firstly, I think any club that goes into administration within 5 yrs of winning a trophy should be stripped of such title(s) from the history books because IMO any club that ramps up that amount of debt is clearly spending millions of pounds they do not have and in effect cheating, exactly the same way Pompey did a few years ago.

David Murray was the biggest cheat of the lot claiming ".......for every £5 Celtic put down, Rangers will put down £10!" what sort of bull**** is that?

Im affraid it was inevitable that a "Big" club was gonna get caught out sooner or later, im just glad it aint my club (yet).

Secondly, Dont be suprised if a little unknown Russian from the Fulham Road helps out his Glasgow "friends".

football is eating itself

several teams into administration, including a 'giant' in Rangers, and today, portsmouth

Darlington & Kettering in danger of going to the wall for owing less than what England brave captain earns in a week.

The PL taking over everything 'youth', not wanting to pay transfer fees for smaller clubs prized assets

fans travelling across the country on a monday night, OR for a 1245 saturday KO to suit the armchair fan

The Sky generation is killing our game, and I hate it. In fact I hate myself for loving football, although its not the football I grew up with.

Never mind all those problems tho, SS1 had live and exclusive viewing of Lyon v Apoel the other night

NO TO MODERN FOOTBALL !

The Scottish Football Association are to hold an independent inquiry into the activities of Rangers.

"We are concerned by the developing situation," read an SFA statement.
"New information has come to light since the appointment of the club administrators, Duff and Phelps. The chairman and his panel will be briefed by the chief executive, Stewart Regan, next week and will consult further with the administrators, Duff and Phelps, as part of their inquiry.
"We have been guaranteed full co-operation by Paul Clark, representing the company.
"The Scottish FA's previous efforts in obtaining information relevant to the Fit and Proper Person requirement has been restricted by the club's solicitors' continued failure to share information in a timely or detailed manner.

We expect the investigation to be concluded as quickly as possible

Stewart Regan
SFA chief executive
"We now feel there is no option but to undertake an independent inquiry to establish the clear facts and to determine the extent of any possible rules breaches."

I wonder if they'll find the 'missing' £24 million from Ticketus

The rangers administrators duff and phelps were apparently involved on the legal side during the last takeover of the club so may get sacked from the administrator role as they obviously have ties with rangers and the owner
An administrator is supposed to be an independent party with no ties or emotions with all parties involved.
Can see HMRC asking for an overhaul with a new administrator being put in charge

Pinky - what an excellent site that is - my bedtime reading last night.

And then this morning an article in today's Guardian with that site's author and how complicit the media were in not reporting what was happening for years:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/feb/17/scotland-media-rangers
In a world of free information, where most blogs die alone and ignored shortly after birth, the very popularity of rangerstaxcase.com carries a message about modern Scotland. It is a story of the unmet need for the straight story, uncorrupted by the sinister Triangle of Trade that renders most of what passes as news in Scotland's media outlets as worthless. It is the tale of why things went so wrong at Rangers and why the club's many fans seemed paralysed by disbelief until it was too late.
.............
The story of Rangers' insolvency is already becoming a fireside tale told mostly by those who were not there. Trampled down in the rush of journalists claiming that "of course, I knew all along, but I just could not say anything" are all of the derisive newspaper articles and radio call-in panellists dismissing the risks Rangers were facing. I am in no doubt: Scotland's media, sports and business desks alike, are complicit in the disaster than has befallen Rangers. They killed their golden goose.

AL

You sound like my ex mate..

It's all a Celtic/Papist conspiracy....

Fkcuing man up........you're plain ***** but you won't admit it..

I can't tell you how many countless hours I had to listen to my mate telling me everything wrong with the world was a tim conspiracy or how Rangers were cheated..Like no one else has ever had a bad decision go against them

And then the entire night prior to an old firm game some twat on youtube posted anti Celtic songs and he sang along with them hour upon hour upon hour....and had the balls to tell me I knew fcku all about fitba......

What about the 17K only that showed up for the cup game a couple of weeks back ?

Or do they only turn out when the papers make a big issue out of it...
