Even the players all think this is our only hope now. I know, because after the game today, I spoke with Gary O'Neill, Carlton Cole, Tomka, Ricardo Vaz Te and Sam Baldock, while they were signing autographs and they all agreed, things are looking a bit tough now. Apart from little Sam who was still a bit upbeat, but all the others all seemed really low

It is a cup game. The playoffs is a knockout cup tournament.

If they are 'cup games', do we get 15% allocation?

Yes - but if it's Cardiff I'm sure police will stop that.

You jest.

They only go to games they think we'll win.

Jim - always like your posts and perspective when you come on here mate, but I'm not sure that I agree with your comment. I think that the Prem is the most hyped league in the world, but that's about it.

Anyhow, back to the thread, it could be a couple of good days out for the play-offs, not confident that Mr Entertainment would get us playing the sort of football I like, but I'd still make the trip back for the games. Had fun last time we did it, and who knows, it could be our route back to the Prem.

Now, how we would do back in the Prem is another issue entirely . . . :(

Still think we can do this..

Reading drop points at home to Leeds on Friday, we'd go into Barnsley game later that day 5 points behind (assuming they draw).

We should beat Barnsley (away record suggests we will) and then its Birmingham at home. We are definitely due a big result against Brum.

Reading would then go into a tough game at Brighton a point behind us and with all the pressure on them and momentum with us.

Keep the faith.

I've been thinking for a while now looking at our form since the Cardiff game, that we would struggle if we get promoted. I appreciate there would be additions to the team but we don't have the cash to buy a large number of new players of sufficient quality.

With that in mind, I wonder if we would be better off not winning the playoffs. There would be a few exits in the Summer which would upset the majority on here, but just maybe we might emerge from it all as a more cohesive team. I have to say it's been nice to win a few this season - mainly away games sadly- hence our current situation. I am not sure I want to sit through another gut wrenching season in the Prem watching us struggle like we have the last couple of seasons.

I was referring to Mr Sullivan's decision to not go to St Andrews last season.

In fairness to Mr Gold, he was there, so far as I know...

I disagree..I think we'll end up playing Brighton IF we get into the play-off final. Ain't sticking a tenner on it, but just a significant hunch that's all.

It aint over yet. Coming off the last bend Steve Ovett always liked to be on the shoulder of the 2 in front before he kicked away in the last 50 metres. I have a feeling that one or both of Soton and Reading will deckchair before the race is up. Pressure all on them now.
