Actually i am suprised - as the stories were a £7m package - which at 45k means no signing on fee...

At a guess i'd say that Elia would get 25-30K and Castaignos 15K plus bonuses.

Yep. Same with phone contracts. £55 a week contract over 2 years and you get a free iPhone they tell you when in fact you can get a Sim only deal on the same terms for £25. So over the two years you're paying an extra 500 odd quid which far exceeds the price of the handset. Be warned

A large signing on fee is the normal way with Bosman transfers but with us trying to pay chunks off the debt plus needing transfer fees they probably decided to spread that over the three years of his contract instead.

If he is on £45k p/w that would most likely put him second top earner behind Nolan.

Seems a bit daft though as this could cause friction in the squad plus would make it hard to sell him if we ever wanted to.

Betis may well have been in for him - but the other really interested parties were supposedly Wigan. Stoke, and Everton.

Is anyone at West 'Top Half' Brom earning that kind of weekly wage? I'm fairly sure that nobody at Norwich or Swansea will be.

Appreciably, West Ham need to pay something akin to London weighting, but long-serving Carlton is 'only' on 28k.

Personally, that's not a bad wage for Diame, given that he wasn't a starter for his last team in the months he wound down his contract.

Diame was in a reasonably strong bargaining position. No transfer fee, if I remember correctly he represents himself thus no agent fee too. So the club is making a great signing on the cheap. With him being seemingly much sorted after, and negotiating in a position where he knows Nolan makes a fair whack, it is understandable his wages are a little higher.

Nothing in life is free. Its the case in football too. We paid a guy worth 30k a week wages 45k a week. Add that up over 3 years and its about a 2.7 mill transfer fee all up. Sounds like great business to me still

Kind of annoyed we arnt more into Lukaku. No doubt Chelsea will send him on loan to a PL club. Offer them a loan fee and be done with it I say. The exact player we need for our front line

As regards Gamberini ~ Fiorentina are looking for approx £3.5m with us and one other team are interested (probably Everton,as Moyes transfer policy seems to be "go after West Ham's targets") but Fiorentina want to sell him to Naples, who have a player they want.

We were always going to have to pay a little extra in wages for Diame imo, he was allegedly in high demand abroad and from a few established prem clubs, a few weeks ago the local press up here were convinced he was going to sign for sunderland, saying that he had been really impressed with what O'neill had to say and was coming back for more talks and was looking very likely to sign, they did acknowledge though that there was alot of clubs after him, we were always going to have to pay him big money to tempt him here!
