My current favourite player, has been for a few years. Seems an intelligent, articulate guy who understands and appreciates how special the fans of this club are.

He always had time for us, appreciated our support and vocal defence of him in the face of opposition abuse and seems just a generally decent guy.

Personally, i'd pay top dollar for Green as I rate him that highly.

Good luck to him. A good servant and a good professional.

A good keeper too but not a great one. I liked him, hope he gets a decent offer for what is likely to be his last big contract.

See yer Rob...

Het-Field wrote:If he goes, I wouldnt begrudge him. No doubt, there was an offer available to him last season (not necessairly from a "Big Four" or Top Half Prem team), but he remained at Upton Park. He played through the financial turmoil, the relegation scares, the relegation, the weak management, many gutless defenders, and managerial upheavel. He has done what he can for this club, and has contributed heavily in returning us to the promised land. If he is of the opinion that he can do nothing else with the Club, then I will respect that.

Personally I think that is a bit naive. First up I must say that I like what I know of Green and would be happy if the club pay him what he wants (within reason) and he stays.

Having said that, whilst he did as you say stay through job offers and relegation, I believe it was always his intention to walk away "a la Upson" in order to start a bidding war over his singing fee. Of course that is all conjecture but I don't think you can say "he's done all he can for the club"! We now have a manager that has come to us with more prior top level experience than any other manager had at the time of joining us in our history. We are promoted with a better team than the one that we went down with and are looking to consolidate at first… If he wants to "do more for the club" there is a little room left yet me thinks.

I will be Disappointed to see him Go , Hes been a Quality Keeper for us and this will be his last Big Contract , Cant really slag him off for that , He could have gone last Year but saw out his Contract which is Fair Enough . I would still like to see him stay but that is looking Doubtful now . I wish him well and will Give him a Great Reception when he comes Back as im sure every one will .

As for Replacements , Bolton & Blackburn both have Good Keepers can see 1 of them coming , wouldnt mind Paul Robinson , still a Top Keeper !!

The feeling is he is off to QPR on big money. None of us want to see the club hit by another huge wage budget and more debts. Green has done well but time to move on. I can't see a reason to leave west ham to join QPR unless you want money. Green is easily replaceable, just hope he's leaving doesn't affect the players

A footballer's career is short and I can't really blame Green for looking for a big payday. Nothing wrong with seeing out a contract and then looking elsewhere. Fair play to him.

Cannot argue with that. Has been a model pro for us and deserves one big payday.

I think a shake up at the back will do us some good as well.

Has been underpaid for most of his time here, has been superb and loyal and still the best keeper we can hope for, much better than any of the alternatives suggested. If Nolan's worth his money then Greeno's more than worth £50k pw!

I'd love to know how many goalkeepers in England are on £50k+ a week.

Cech, Reina, Hart and possibly De Gea.

I can't think of any others who'd manage it.

West Ham cannot be expected to pay Green that sort of money. If he wants it, we have to let him go to QPR unfortunately.

QPR

If he leaves us to go to that ****, then I'll be glad we got rid, as there can be no other reason than money for leaving us for them. A sideways move at the very, very least.

I have to agree with that. It's sad that signing a premium player like Nolan could have a negative effect eventually.

I've heard he's gone - the board would not entertain his demands point blank. And Jussa is a done deal (so I was told).

Sorry to see Greeno go. We are lucky that there are some decent keepers out there and available..

I agree with that as well. It is a shame there are so many examples in recent history of chucking money down the drain on certain players, when that money could have been better spent improving his contract.

I liked it - it seened to wind up the opposition fans more and more at the end of the season, just long enough to avoid a lecture from the ref but long enough to frustrate the opposition
