The strangest thing about all of this is the length of his deal.
They are as well placed as us to make the top half of the league......won't be anywhere near relegation next year.
They rallied impressively in the final third of the season and Hughes will make them hard to beat, I imagine, but... ....I still think that at the moment, they're a fairly limited side. However, as you say, they're backed by one of the richest men not just in London, but the world (outside of the oil-rich middle east). So, yes, the length of the deal seems unusual. Almost as if he's seen as nothing more than a stop-gap.

The money is obviously more than at West Ham and from a job perspective, it's a heftier paycheck.
But also, QPR is a pretty easy commute from Chertsey/Woking way...
IIRC he really enjoyed working with Kevin Hitchcock the short time he was at the club under Zola. I'm pretty sure he has followed Hughes to QPR, perhaps another small reason for joining them.

It may be, but he'll only be there once a fortnight. The QPR training ground is in Harlington, which is like Homs but without the charm.
its bleaker than that, my son played there this season v ,, QPR
and the lure of playing behind anton and ryan nelsen was too strong for him to turn down

i'm very sad to see him go and i fear the next keeper is doomed to fail as the fans had such high affinity to greeno and we all trusted him to keep our net it will be a tough job to match that. For this reason i hope henderson doesn't start in goal as i've seen him plenty of times for portsmouth (living in portsmouth and all my mates have season tickets i get to go often) and he's a decent keeper but not better than greeno yet however i believe the potential to be better is there. Big decision on the keeper front for such a crucial season. It also saddens me to say i fully believe what utj is saying and i believe rob really didn't like the daves and felt like they weren't giving him the respect he deserves which ultimately lead to him leaving.

Very sad to see Rob Green move for a last big payday, and that's all it is,
You can't say QPR is a bigger club with European football ambitions can you ?
Any Club that offer Keiron Dyer another contract when he played just 7 minutes for his £2.1 million wages last season are dumber than a box of rocks. Rob Green could have stayed and been here for life, moving into a coaching role after retirement.

In my life time, there have been truly revolutionary clubs. Jimmy Hill's Coventry and QPR. The former set the mould for all seating stadiums years before Taylor, but QPR laid the ground stones with their redevopment of Loftus Rd. Correct me if I am wrong, but QPR installed the first plastic pitch.
The trouble is that both teams are just players in History. Tony is not a Roman, and Mittel is too cute to lose too much. Green will be playing in a Subbuteo stadium with Lego fans. Could he have done better? No. Will he be happy? Only Rob knows the criteria for that.
As a fan, I have worshipped at the doors of Parkes, Ludo, and even Shaka and James. In over 30 years, it has only been McKnight that has made my legs wobble...and yes that includes Day
Edited to say close on 40 years. Time flies

I could understand if he went to a big club, but QPR?! Anyway thats his choice. At the end of the day he has been a terrific keeper and I appreciate what he has done for the club. Its also good that he went out on a high after the play-off final. Thanks for the good memories greeno All the best

Mate just told me QPR have told him he can leave if he finds a new club. Have I missed something here?

I read an interview with Hughes this morning in which he said Green has a future with QPR. Although he wouldn't say they are looking to get rid of them in any case, would he? If Jussi retires after season, I'd welcome him back.

He is better than what currently have, but I wouldn't take him back after ditching us for a tinpot club like QPR for the extra £££.He has made his bench let him sit on it.

Problem is that, overall, he's not a great goalkeeper, he's brilliant at reaction saves like in the game at Arsenal we won 1:0 and where he saved between 20-30 shots I reckon. But he doesn't control his box, he's shaky whenever a cross or high ball comes near him and that's why I'm surprised he ever even made it into the England squad in the first place. I know Jussi is bound to have the odd stinker game but already I'm more happy and relaxed watching him between the sticks than Green. Hopefully in 1-2 years Henderson will be our number one goalkeeper anyway.

We must watch a different game then. I wince whenever a shot is taken at Jussi's goal. I love how everyone jumps on this "doesn't command his area" nonsense. When we played Stoke, Green was one of the first keepers in the league to deal with Delap's throw efficiently, which involved simply going to collect the ball. Just because a few people mention about his lack of command, doesn't mean they're correct. Oh, and at least he can kick.

He wouldn't be top of my list. He was very overrated by West Ham fans. We should be looking to improve.

Maybe Greeno just fancied a change. Of course we can't see why he would ever leave West Ham for QPR but just because we all think West Ham are great, it doesn't mean Rob Green has to play for the club until they decide they don't need him. He'd probably made his mind up to go elsewhere long before the end of last season (with no new contract on the table) and I think he should be remembered as someone who gave his all from the moment he signed for us, to the moment he was no longer employed by the club.
I also imagine QPR's ambition impressed him. Sadly it's that ambition that now sees him sitting on the bench.

This, I think we should just be looking to fill in until we can either start Henderson or find someone young. I'd still take Friedel when Spurs get shot of him next season/in January
