Considering the utter shambles we were when he walked through the door, the transformation to a well organised unit has been quite excellent, and just shows what a good football manager he is, on all levels that a manager needs to deal with. Tactically, setting the right atmos, motivationally, man management.... he has done very well across the board, imo

Must admit I had my doubts when he was appointed.
I did hope that we would become the best of both worlds, Sam's gritty pragmatism balanced by our natural instinct to attack and try and play decent stuff, but I was far from confident it would happen... slowly but surely, it did happen. The progress was obvious throughout the season. Sure, there was the odd dip, but all season long we were improving and moving in exactly the right direction

So pleased it worked out for him, as he stuck his neck on the line, but stuck to his guns, and has been proven right to do so

I hope everyone can now get right behind him, the board included in terms of supplying him with what he needs, and we can carry on improving, both as a team, and as a club

Slim margins all-round - unless my maths is off (can't be arsed to look at the table) we were 50 mins away from winning the league (Reading home game). Similarly we were 3 mins away from going to extra time in the final against a team that finished well below us - funny old game and all that...

To win promotion after such a high turnover of staff and to somehow, out of abject misery - I've never seen such a disconsolate bunch than our lot under Grant in the run-in last season - conjour such team spirit and togetherness in such a short period of time, is an excellent achievement (the signing of Nolan in this regard was a masterstroke).

I get the feeling that despite it looking to the contrary initially, Allardyce as West Ham manager could be a perfect match.

So he has my congratulations as do our owners, who actually shut the **** up for a concerted period of time - long may it continue...

With all the commotion of winning I'm not sure he's got enough credit for his tactical substitutions on the day - making an early change at around 50 mins at 1-1 and the possibility of it still going to extra time was pretty ballsy. Ditto bringing on Faubert to make sure we had someone with pace on the right flank. I certainly wouldn't have had Faubert anywhere near the field, but he got it spot on - Phillips and Ince didn't have anywhere near as much fun as they did in the opening stages.

I think Demel took a knock to be fair. But the first one was spot-on and was definitely ballsy, as I'd say O'Neil was one of the main reasons in the last 6-8 weeks as to why we've been playing better.

I just wanted to say that at times this season I have given stick to BFS for team selections, tactics and some of his verbals aimed at some fans etc. However I just wanted to say that by the same token at times I have been a dick and I wanted to say that he, his backroom team, the Daves and the players have done so much to make us all proud. We lost less games than any other team, we were tight defensively and towards the end of the season looked a far better attacking option. Yes we need to improve the squad and hence the first team and it is essential that we stay up next season too, but he has taken us back up at the first attempt and put a great spirit into the club too. I am confident that he knows what we will need to do to stay where we are and do the necessary. He has already moved on other players who other managers may have kept for sentimental reasons. Thanks BFS for restoring the fortunes of a broken team so quickly.

Sam has done what he and the board wanted him to do = promotion.So like other fans i am very grateful to him,I did doubt him around march time when he seemed to persevere with 1 up top at home and we ended up drawing a sequence of games with the home games against Watford,Donny & Boro very dissapointing.I felt with a more positive attitude from sam in terms of personnel we could have faired better in those games.However the last month or so has been fantastic in terms of results/performances and we achieved what we all wanted - promotion

I really like Big Sam, a proper manager with great experience. Going through the tough period of March may prove to be a turning point as I think he started to realise what West Ham is about, 'We play on the floor' and towards the end of the season with the play off pressures and his tactics, us supporters now understand he can get a team playing good football, 6-0 v Brighton and destroying Cardiff.
Hopefully he now gets the chance to push on in the Premier League next season with backing from the two Daves. I'm really looking forward to how they work the transfer market now. Roll on August.

Didn't want him at first, still don't want him, I accept I've got to put up with him but look forward to the day he packs his bag,s for Real Madrid, Barca or wherever his talents take him.

Well I'm smug. I did support his appointment and his actions throughout the season.

Having said that it was close both ways. We could easily have been champions had we scored as we should have in the first half against Reading. Likewise if Blackpool had better eye for goal we could have missed out altogether. Such fine fine margins

But the play off final experience was truly fantastic. I feel privileged to have been there. TBH I'd have not had it any other way in retrospect. And Allardyce is likely IMO to get it right in the Prem. My guess is we'll be around 14th at the end of next season and build on that. After that we'll finally be back where Curbishley left us

To be fair I think Big Sam got the final spot on. Blackpool were well up the for the final and were always going to go for it. If we had done the same I think they may well of won, and nearly did. But the team was set up well and he had them believing in themselves.

What you dont seem to take into account is how hard it is to drag a group of players off their knees and get them to beleive in what they do and have team spirit again.

Everyone bangs on about how bad last season was under Grant, but to be fair it started under Zola and the Icelandics.

Sam and the Two Daves have done well.
