Re: disrespectful beer company (non WHU)Looks like I'm the only one but I love this sort of documentary. It has been proven in Soccer Aid that the gap between Old Pro's (once their legs have gone) and fitter and younger players isn't as big as you'd expect. I for one would like them to make the 3rd tround proper just to see how far they can get.
Documentaries (I remember Big Ron's and Fash's) when they were managing low level players had me gripped every week, and I think this will do the same, I mean a former England manager and all. I'm also sure that the teams that Wembley play would love to play against so called legends. Similar theory why we love the Masters football, to see if legends of football have still got it.
Re: disrespectful beer company (non WHU)
Understand where you're coming from, but this isn't like the Masters. Masters football isn't swiping a place from some honest John who'd have been lining up in the FA Cup if it weren't for some daft promotion. Masters football doesn't turn a club into a shoddy advert for A.N. Other product. Masters football isn't encouraging a handful of fairweather fans - who WON'T stick around once the programme's over and the stars all take off - to support the player(s), not the team. Everyone wants to see some oldboy legends pitted against one another - it's fun, it's exciting, and you'll see more real, unteachable skill in an hour than in a month of EPL football. But this isn't that. This is a small club, being exploited to hopefully shift some units of iconic-yet-disappointing American lager. It's tacky and undignified. IMO, of course.

And this is spot on, my thoughts exactly! I would have no problem with these ex pro's coaching or managing but too take away places from the normal team members is just wrong in my opinion!
Re: disrespectful beer company (non WHU)
I get your point and the romance of the FA cup is something that every kid dreams of. But Wembley FC haven't been anywhere near the 1st round in the last 30 years and only made it once in the clubs history. Taking a lads spot 6 rounds off the 1st round proper is hardly ruining a lads career. I think it's a bit of fun, it'll make the club a few quid (possibly history making £££) and may get locals supporting their local team for all be it for a season. Unfortunately money talks these days, and supercedes morals or ethics.

...is the pertinent quote of the thread.
