im 23 i can remember bits of the 98/99 season when we finished 5th but the 2005/06 season is the best i have seen or remember, its on sky sports 4 premier league years right now. Harewood was a one season wonder that year hopefully Vaz te will have a good season like Harewood did. Our team was full of good championship players like Mullins Etherington Reo coker Gabbidon and Collins and also an unknown star from abroad in Benayoun. Hopefully this year can be like the 05/06 season

Would rather it be like 85-86 ahhhhhhhh smashing chelsfilth, mark wards dodgy penalty against Ipswich, away at Birmingham first game and thinking who the truck is this frankie bloke he looks crap ha ha, Alvin Martins hatrick against 3 different keepers, beating man utd 2-0 away in the f.a cup and just the buzz around the ground leading up to the end of the title race, great days.

85/86 was the best ever. We were beating everybody and scoring loads. Played great attacking football. Had a solid defence. Why we didn't build on that I will never know.

I always struggle to split 80/81 and 85/86....the latter just gets the nod because of me being that bit older and working and therefore having more cash and a motor to go away more. We were sublime in both those seasons.
The seasons between the two mentioned also hold truly special memories, even if up and down on the field e.g. seeing the 4-0 at WHL in 80/1 alongside needing to beat Stoke on a pissing night late on in 84/5 to stay up and with Bonzo as a striker IIRC. Off the field also some wonderful memories following the club during those seasons....

For those interested there is a "Premiership Years" style programme on Sky Sports 3 tonight at 10.30pm called Football's Richest Prize which I believe will provide a season summary of the Championship season that has just gone by.

80-81 no question - both the best team I've seen and also favourite season.
Won the second division title with a record number of points - playing magnificent football.
Lyall, Bonds, Brooking, Devonshire etc.
Took mighty Liverpool to a League Cup Final replay, beating Spurs on the way in one of the great nights at Upton Park.
European Campaign and the drama of playing Castilla behind closed doors, and the best team ever seen at the Boleyn - Dinamo Tiblisi.
Those truly were the Good Old Days.

99/00 for me.
Intertoto cup run, leading to a full UEFA cup run.
Di Canio's greatest season for us, including THAT goal, making an absolute mug of Keown and many other moments
The Academy in full flow with Rio and Lampard key players and Cole and Carrick breaking through.
The drama of Mannygate.
And, above all, real hope and belief that we were onto something special.......

85-86 actually watching live.
One of the only times I've watched us play and expected us to win whoever the opposition was. God, we played some lovely stuff.
We were the VERY BEST team in the country at home that year. Better than the previous years league winners. Better than the European Cup finalists.

Each of the last 2 seasons we were in the Championship, I don't know why, I just enjoy the whole spectacle more, a proper league for proper fans!

In fairness, we had a few years of playing some great stuff under him. Ultimately he squandered it all - as he always seems to do.

We played Grimsby away and they had only in 4/5 goals at home all season in about 18/19 home games, we managed to score 5 !!

80-81 for me. Best team we've had imho - so many great games and excellent football. Although 75-76 was pretty good too!

85/86 .
Nearly did it .We nearly did it .
Going to games was affordable , fun and looking back now, it really seems like a bygone age , but no question it will be the season I take to my old age .

2005/2006 since I've only seen the hammers since 2001..that season was unbelievable..actually saw the fa cup final in my favourite local pub in eindhoven..it was just me and another bloke who worked at Phillips company who had west ham kits on..and about 40 scousers..what a day that was, they bought us pints afterwards
