I'm not holding it against him either. The fact is that the single most important thing for any prospective owner is to be able to buy the club, and that ability includes beating their competitors to the punch. If he was outmaneuvered by a porn merchant that doesn't say a great deal for his much touted international business acumen. Perhaps the timing was poor for him, but the luck of timing is so important. Perhaps if it weren't for unfortunate timing G&S wouldn't have appointed Grant. If it weren't for O'Neill being a prima donna they'd have certainly replaced him, as TF did with Warnock. Both aren't far into their relatively short reigns at their clubs, we'll see how things turn out.

Plus, they really should have got less excited than they did about Benni McCarthy, Ilan and Mido.
Ilan wasn't a bad shout, at the price etc. McCarthy and Mido were ludicrously poor judgement calls. It makes me laugh that some on here blame Zola for McCarthy. Lest we forget too...Sam sold him us...

True enough on Ilan, but the way they were talking you'd have think they'd just bought us Trevor Francis!

West Ham United, 09:53, August 10, 2012 West Ham co owner David Gold has revealed that any money Sam Allardyce spends is from his and David Sullivan's pockets.
Allardyce has been steadily building a squad which he hopes will be able to compete in the Premier League next season but anyone who has come in has been paid for by the co-owners. The West Ham duo were ready to break the bank to bring Andy Carroll into the club from Liverpool but the move never came off but Gold has been quick to point out that any deal would have been funded by the clubs co-owners. Gold said: "Everybody needs to understand there is nothing but debt at the club right now. It's coming down but there's nothing for players. "Thus every move we make in the transfer market will be funded by cash from David Sullivan and myself. "Many names are thrown around and expectations are high at West Ham and among the fans but we need to repeat it's DS and myself who will be finding everything from our personal resources." As for the failed Carroll move, Gold said:"We went the extra mile for Andy but in the end he decided he wanted to stay and fight for his place at Liverpool. "That's very much his decision and there was nothing we could do about it. We wish him all the best. This is a decision players often make and I hope he doesn't live to regret it.

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes willing to leave QPR QPR chairman Tony Fernandes says he will leave the club if he cannot "fix" their problems. The R's are bottom of the Premier League and lost 4-2 at home to League One MK Dons in the FA Cup on Saturday. Fernandes said on Twitter: "Many fans attacking me. Doing our best. As I said we won't stop trying. "As I have said many times I take all responsibility and will face the music. Always spirit up. If can't fix it I will be first to go." The Malaysian businessman took over QPR in August 2011 on their return to the Premier League. In January 2012 he sacked Neil Warnock, the manager who led them to promotion, with the club sitting one place outside the relegation zone. His replacement, Mark Hughes, kept them up on the final day of the season. The former Wales boss was then sacked in November after the club failed to win any of their opening 12 Premier League games, with a large proportion of his 11 summer signings criticised. Hughes was replaced by Harry Redknapp, with the former Tottenham boss implying he would not spend much money on transfers in January if they were adrift at the bottom of the table. However Fernandes then allowed him to break the club record to sign striker Loic Remy from Marseille for £8m, with his wages believed to be £80,000 a week. Remy missed the Dons defeat with a tight hamstring.

Redknob and Fernandes,a match made in heaven, both will skulk away from the club leaving massive debts and both claiming its not their fault.

I'm glad QPR look like they may not be able to get out of the mess they find themselves in, serves them right for not cutting their cloth accordingly and then getting a person like Redknapp involved, silly move.

A sure sign of the cracks appearing (if Fernandes quotes accurate). V. worried and looking for tactical escape before reputation damaged further?
Media whore and great brand builder (with other peoples money) - no substance.
Theoretically, he made a good decision trading Warnock for Hughes. But Hughes given heaps of cash couldn't bond a group and they are where they are.
G&S&K = better.

The man is novice in football terms, he replaced a street fighter, and proven coach with a hollywood signing of a manager. Warnock is a prize c..t, but he is exactly the type to keep the R's in the division. He then compounds that by being star ****ed over on players and budgets. QPR are a second teer London club, always have been, always will be. Thats no slight on the support, it is material fact. and if Fernandes really believed he could move them onto to compete with the the four larger London clubs he is serious deluded.Gold and Sully have made some hum dinger errors, Grant, Mdio, MaCarthy, but they did sign that Brazilian lad in same window who did score. I have said before that owning, managing and playing for a big London club isnt like doing that at Brum, and Gold, Sully and Brady have learnt a big lesson over the three years, especially since Sam turned up. I wouldnt swap them for a media whore wanna be like Fernandes.

Fernandes talked the talk but couldn't walk the walk when it came to buying West Ham. Now he is helping to **** things up at QPR using other peoples' money. End of.

I feel quite sorry for him really. Should've given his wedge to G & S to invest in his 'beloved' West Ham

Jesus, if he thinks QPR is bad and he is willing to leave, he would have been out of the door in seconds after seeing the mess we were in when he tried to buy us.

He could'nt keep his Yorkshire love club in the division! *titters* Fernandes is sounding like he's unfolding the white flag to me. Billybigbollox should've just pumped a few quid into his 'beloved Hammers' when TwoDaves gave him the chance, that's assuming he actually has(had!) hard cash to match TwoDaves.
