Re: January 2016 Transfer Rumours
Carroll is always going to be held to a higher standard than anyone else because of his wages.
I don't even think that's particularly unfair - if you're earning that enormous amount then the downside you have to bear is you're going to draw more attention to your performances.

I imagine it would be the players who we're linked in the summer.DDHammer wrote:I know it might be a little early, but apparently we were on the official scout list at the Porto game last night alongside Arsenal, Man U, Man City, Liverpool and Juventus.
Any ideas on who we would have been watching? I'd hazard a guess at Martins-Indi, Brahimi or Ruben Neves who became the youngest ever captain in the Champions League.
like Zaza at Juventus & Ruben Neves at porto.
Pato linked with West ham move recently. I personally recommended him to Jack Sullivan, along with FC Groningen's Albert Rusnak and Stuttgart's Filip Kostic.

Well if the 3 of you can't convince him I can't see Pato ever wearing the famous C&B anytime soon.a86 wrote:Pato linked with West ham move recently. I personally recommended him to Jack Sullivan, along with FC Groningen's Albert Rusnak and Stuttgart's Filip Kostic.

If we're serious about breaking into the top 6 we need another top quality striker in the Sakho mould. This isn't a knee jerk reaction to Saturday, I believe he is so important to our style of play that without him in the team we're not going to be same the same counter attacking proposition.
We seem to have decent cover across most other positions (other than fullbacks) so the striker would be no.1 priority.

Indeed the main weakness is a striker who can hit 20 goals. The all round goal scoring is covering that up but together it would move us into serious contention and maybe turn round our performances against the lesser teams without leaving us so open at the back.cowelly2006 wrote:If we're serious about breaking into the top 6 we need another top quality striker in the Sakho mould. Dan Gosling? I thought we were moving away from injury prone, Championship level players? Would add absolutely zilch to our squad. He's not even adding much to Bournemouths.

Re: January 2016 Transfer Rumours
Came on here to see if there were some decent rumours, to find out that people want to bounce the captain out of the club and replace him with Dan Gossling WTF?
Personally I can't see the manager and the owners getting rid of anyone at the moment, why would you unless they are players nowhere near the first team? And that includes Ginge, who has been excellent since getting back in the team (red card withstanding)

West Ham have been linked with AC Milan Midfielder Keisuke Honda.

been watching him for a good few years before his AC Milan Bosman move from CSKA Moscow. dead ball specialist and has great distribution qualities a really good player imo, probably at his peak now, but not really playing games at AC. Milan could be swayed to let him go because of his wages.
would he be good for our team? yes
can we afford him? only if we made the squad thinner by selling players...so do we weaken the squad core for one player?
will he start games? I doubt it, but would be a great impact player from the bench.
personally I think we lack 2 full backs

Dan Gosling, as a signing, would be the equivalent of gagging for a lovely thai jungle curry, sticky rice and a side of chilli nam pla, then getting home and it being closed, so you have a brown bread corned beef sandwich.

Re: January 2016 Transfer Rumours
I don't think we will sign anyone as we need to sell and any funds should be used for lanzani that's priority
Re: January 2016 Transfer Rumours
I can see Collins, Zarate and O'Brien leaving, along with a few on loan, possibly Burke, Cullen, Lee and maybe even Antonio. If Song actually comes back I can see us leaving midfield largely alone. If there is the big investment coming, we will likely sign Lanzini, Moses and Jenkinson permenantly and given Bilic's plaudits Gokan Tore, and maybe Honda to appeal to try to establish a Japanese fan base. We could use one out top class out and out striker so I'll say Mario Mandzukic
