Apologies if stated already, but the Geordies seem to be closing on Matt Ritchie

Don't rate Gomez no more. Think him at Bayern sugar coated his ability at the time. Saw him a few times at Fiorentina, but didn't see what the fuss was about. Didn't even know he was at Besiktas. Didn't think anyone even watched that league.

just won the Turkish league with Besiktas...26 goals & 6 assists in 33 games according to stats...

And I watch Bundesliga, before the mighty Bayern signed him, for Stuttgart he scored 57 in 82 games during last three seasons...

Oh and he is currently away in the Euros with the current World Champions

So I think we can agree a major step up on anything we currently have

Icardi would be great but like Lacazette & Batshuayi, he will end up going to a club with more dollar than us.
You'd basically have 3 big men then in Carroll, Gomez and Benteke and not much pace between them. The likelyhood is that only one would start leaving the other two on the bench and none of the 3 give you an option as a wide attacker. Given the fact the club have looked at Lacazette, Batshuayi, Bacca, Icardi, Vardy etc they want someone with pace up there as well that can also play wide if needed.

George Dobson off to Walsall on loan. Best of luck to George.

Also, I didn't realize we'd converted him from CB to DM. I know he played there in Mark Noble's testimonial, but I didn't take that as any indication we'd be moving him there.
Probably more of an opportunity for him there considering the Reece's are already pushing for playing time at CB.

Would be annoyed if we didn't sign Tore now, not because i know anything about him or how good he might be, but because he is the one Slav wants, he has admitted that on numerous occasions, so if the owners fail to get him, they will be letting Slav down.

The player wants to join, our manager is pining for him.. for the sake of our Slaven, just get it done. Please.

Last thing we need is a dissapointed Slav when the big clubs come sniffing about for his services, because they will.

I wonder what effect it might have on Bilic if we end the window without having signed any of his specific targets?

Now Benteke has been backed from 20-1 to 1/4 to join Palace. That would hold water given Dwight Gayle passing a medical at Newcastle and personal terms agreed. So thats our first 72 targets gone

Probably between him and Burke but that's if they sell Tonka. That recent Europe vote may have changed their opinion though, teams will not want to lose their homegrown players now unless they get staggering offers for them but how do you keep all of Tonka, Oxford and Burke happy with playing time?

I can't see us parting with any cash for Benteke, too much of a risk.

Just saw this on Twitter re: Chelsea's recruitment procedures:

Willian to Spurs
Pedro to Man Utd
Fabrigas to Man Utd
Batshuayi to West Ham

They do it every year. Headbanger

Any other business coming in and i'll be highly optimistic
I'd argue if we are serious about keeping Payet we need 2 high profile signings to match his ambition

Burke is probably closer to first team ready at CB. Oxford has the higher ceiling, unquestionably, but definitely needs time to fill out his frame. Would guess that Oxford goes to a Championship side this year and Burke stays on to replace Tomkins in the event he leaves.

Chelsea LOOOOVES having other clubs do their legwork, then just flashing the cash right before a deal is finalized. This is one of the Russian's signature negotiation tactics. Let someone else figure out what it'll take to sign the player, then come in just a little over the top and offer outrageous wages to boot.

Come now, we have known all along that Carlton Cole was the real target.
