It looks a tall order for any of the newly promoted teams to stay up but West Ham strike me as in the best shape, if only because they have Sam Allardyce in charge.

His top-flight nous means they will win the really important games that they need to stay up.

I am going for a West Ham win here, for starters, although in the long-term Aston Villa will be fine too. A big reason for that optimism is that Darren Bent is back from injury, which is a massive boost for them because that means goals.

Judging from what Norwich achieved under Paul Lambert, Villa will do a lot better than they did last season and morale among fans will be much higher from the start than under Alex McLeish.

Prediction: 2-1
