I think that is the real big IF... But hey, Id be interested in anyone who had a strong record of achievement for 5-6 yearsif we had a managerial vacancy... I think the point of this thread is to speculate on whether Paolo is the kind of guy you'd expect to build up that CV or not. I'm in the "not" camp. If I was proved wrong, then I would be happy to see him back here. Incidentally, as it were, I do think Paul is satring to build up an impressive CV
Yeah - I was actually refering to PDC in my original post. We can only wait and see how he turns out but there's no way i'd want him as manager without him showing he can do it elswhere first over a decent period of time. As for Ince - can't deny his record so far with Macclesfield and MK Dons.... however 20+ years of JUUUUUDAAASSSS would take some getting over!

Oh yeah, lets hire a novice who's additionally a nutter!
And people are moaning about Grant going awol for just the one match north of Newport Pagnell.
We'd be lucky to see Di Canio in a dugout in Watford.

There has to be a case for us to say yes to him surely... The one thing that we lack is passion on and off the pitch and he'd give us that, however he is mad but so am i so bring it on

After the Zola farce no thanks. May we never take on a rookie again. Let them learn their trade elsewhere. I'd love to have the fella at the club in some capacity though.

Can anyone give me an example of a legendary Player going on to manage the same Club to some degree of relative success? I'm even unsure about a Fan managing their own Club. Neil Warnock admits in his book that the Sheffield United Board were exploiting the love of his boyhood Team to ensure he wasn't being paid what he felt he was worth.

Dalglish? Gullit? Keegan (in the minds of the fans anyway)?

Dalglish is a solid shout. I'd be a bit indifferent about Gullit and Keegan is a quitter. Full of enthusiasm for a season or two and then runs away. His second spell at Newcastle was laughable.

I'd give him a go.
Everyone had high hopes for Zola because of his ability as a player, I don't think it's a stretch to put Di Canio in the same talent bracket.
Di Canio however is brilliantly insane as well, a quality which seems to a help football manager succeed. Clough was nuts, I've always thought that behind closed doors Ferguson is a bit of a mentalist.
Well balanced men don't make good leaders. F*cking lunatics do.

Completely agree with that but if you ask pretty much any Newcastle fans, they'll have him back in an instant, even though they know they'll never win anything and he'll crack under the pressure.

He was a self-indulgent OK footballer without regard for team ethics. What makes people think he will be a good manager?

It's like Groundhog Day on here at the moment.
Do you reckon we could put in retractable seating?
