UtJ, Normally wouldn't bother with this kind of stuff but I'm giving up smoking at the moment and it's really pissing me off. I don't know if you're aware/have been aware of the overlapping text issue when opening a new thread? I've been getting this for months. I get the forum links "Premium Members, General Discussion, ect" covering up up the first post of the thread nearly 80% of the time. It goes away eventually, but it takes ages. Recently I've started getting an error and I have to choose to stop running scripts in order to view the page? Using IE, haven't tested it on other browsers. I have a screenshot but have nowhere to host the image in order to post it on here

You can get round it by just mousing over the "Home. News. Forum. Articles. Match Reports. WHUFC. Squad. Q&As. Reviews. KUMB. KUMB Shop. FAQ" options near the top of the page. That seems to sort it out.

The whole point of a helpdesk for reporting bugs is so the issues are resolved, not just to find a work around

Indeed it is. The problem is known about, and seems to be something to do with Powerlinks. These are the popup ads which are triggered by mousing over highlighted words. The page doesn't render correctly until these links have loaded, and this can take a while when t'interweb is busy.

I've been getting the script message a lot lately. It's on various machines (Home & work) all of which run IE in one of its incarnations.

Firstly, I hope it's going well RI. Stick with it. Secondly, yes we are aware and I am looking at potential solutions. Johnny Byrne's Boots wrote:The problem is known about, and seems to be something to do with Powerlinks.
The issue existed existed long before we introduced Powerlinks - although it may have been exacerbated by it.

I'm getting this script error message all the time now. Like 20 times a day when visiting KUMB. Doesn't seem to be happening on any other sites I visit. What does it mean ? It happens even with just a single window open. And only when visiting KUMB.. Anything I can do please ? I am computer thick...

Just tested on IE8 and all seems well. What platforms/browser versions are you using chaps?

UTJ, I'm having real problems all the time. I get overlapping text which freezes the page for about 30 secs........when that corrects itself it is often, though not always, followed by a script error message which freezes the page completely. This is the message I get...........sorry not so computer savvy as to post the actual message as I see it. Windows Internet Explorer. Stop Running This Script ? A script on this page is causing your web browser to run slowly. If it continues to run your computer might become unresponsiveAs I mentioned before, the problem seems specific to visiting KUMB . Appreciate you are always looking at certain problems that occur. Will keep an eye on this thread for any help. It's becoming almost impossible to visit the site without screaming at the message I keep getting. It's like the site is being oiled with treacle for me at the moment...

IE9 keeps on not responding on my laptop, mrs laptop and my tower. Always when the page is like the screen print, on all machines. Actually, the state of the page as i type this is worthy of another screen print!

In the past the KUMB forum must undoubtedly have been one of the best forums of any football club bar none. Sadly it is now one of the worst to use and these text and script problems have been around for far too long. I doubt if I am alone in stating that I am getting thoroughly fed up with my PC freezing on this website and the fact that it has had the problem for so long must mean that the problem is not being taken seriously enough. If it is then the lack of communication in letting members know what the situation is -- far from ideal and eventually this great forum will start losing support of the many fed up members. Sorry for the rant but someone had to say it.
In addition, I own 7 different computers which use three different operating systems and and three different browsers. The problem exists on everyone.

Okay, I've appears to have located a workaround....gees this takes back.....
Basically run your cursor across the men; Homes, News, Forum, Articles etc and the page redraws. Has to be the main menus, not the sub.

Here's a new one. Now getting this: Oddly enough, only when I come in here. I don't know if you can see in the picture the zoom level is set to 100%, and it's perfectly normal on every other site.

We seem to have a new contender in the "What can make KUMB come to a dead stop on every page while we watch the spinny thing spin?" contest:- player-services.go-viral-content.com
I know the bills need to be paid, but what ever happened to good old fashioned "Buy this, it's great" ads? Why does every ad these days have to be a full on Hollywood production?

Me too. Not too much of a problem on my wide screen desktop monitor but causes issues on the laptop.

That screenprint was done on my tower on a 24" monitor.

^^^ - I think the problem with the screen width is in this thread only - and it's due to the rather large URL that RichieRiv posted above stretching the line length.
