Re: Messi wins golden ball
Me and my mates were furious about it. There were probably 8 players playing in the final who deserved it more. One of them was in his team!
Total joke of a decision. Player of the tournament was Rodriguez and anyone who disagrees can f*** off.

Re: Messi wins golden ball
A few goals definitely papered over the cracks. I didn't see a single dominating performance from him all tournament, he was awful in tonight's final and in the semi. Add that to the fact he strolled around like a little arrogant troll all tournament. I mean, what must Mascherano think of that after the performances he put in!AndyCarrollsBarber wrote:Sympathy vote? Not even in top 5 for me.
Disgraceful decision

Re: Messi wins golden ball
What are your theories about what was wrong with him tonight? Have you ever seen a more pissed-off & listless man at what should be his global showcase moment? He also walked off when they were having the full time team talk.

Re: Messi wins golden ball
was fuming when he won this.
Rodriguez, Muller, Neuer, Neymar (until his injury), Boateng on tonights performance alone, all deserved it more than Messi.

Re: Messi wins golden ball
He looked as baffled as most fans were about it. I still think individual awards in football are utter bull**** anyway, unless it's something certain like golden boot or most clean sheets.
It's about time people start comparing Messi to other players though, instead of comparing him to his freakish 2009-2012 self. That was his peak and he'll never be that guy again.

Re: Messi wins golden ball
Completely agree! 6 goals in 5 games including the goal of the tournament for me. Add to that he actually managed to perform over 90mins instead of 2mins a game like Messi. He's lucky a couple of great goals papered over the cracks of some terrible performances in the group stages.fjthegrey wrote:Player of the tournament was Rodriguez and anyone who disagrees can **** off.

Adidas sponsored Lionel Messi wins Adidas sponsored Golden Ball award, while playing for his team whose kits are made by Adidas.
This is a funny reads though on Messi winning the golden ball, got to be taking the mickey a little right? http://www.insidespanishfootball.com/11 ... lden-ball/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I agree with those who say the golden ball should have gone to James Rodriguez. Him, Neuer or Luis Suarez.

Re: Messi wins golden ball
Outrageous decision, should have gone to Wayne Rooney for finally scoring in a World Cup. His one and only ever World Cup goal
Re: Messi wins golden ball
Do people actually care or is it just a chance for an internet bandwagon moan up? Twitter up in arms about it but do they really actually care.
Did he deserve it? No. Do I care who won it? Absolutely not.

Re: Messi wins golden ball
He didn't deserve it but wasn't half as bad as the usually ridiculous comments on how bad he was, because he wasn't.
He dragged that team to the WC final basically with moment of genius in every game of the group and then in last 16 game.
Looked ****ed after that though, no surprise given that he played 70 odd games this season.

105 hours of football. Poor b*stard must be knackered. Still, I'm sure he can go back to his mansion and cry into his gold plated bucket, and take comfort in the fact he didn't have to work 40 hours a week on minimum wage for the privilege.
My heart bleeds for him.

Why? I don't think it was the right decision but I couldn't have cared much less to be honest.fjthegrey wrote:Me and my mates were furious about it.

Re: Messi wins golden ball
It's just another example of FIFA ignorance and bias. I find it deeply frustrating how lazy they are. It was almost in insult to Messi as well. If they'd won the cup I reckon a German would have got it. Like a consolation prize.
