How good is this World Cup?

Post by pablo jaye »

I don’t know if I am still riding the crest of the initial excitement of it being a World Cup competition but I am quite enjoying it so far - there have been some good matches so far and an upset too - we just need a pantomime villain and an off the field controversy just to complete the set.

VAR hasn’t annoyed me as much as I thought it would and the refs seem to be doing OK without wanting to be the centre of attention.

It’s early doors but a thumbs up from me so far.

I agree, really enjoyed pretty much every game so far, and find myself looking forward to the games to come.

I'm really looking forward to watching Senegal. We know a lot of their players and apparently, they are grease lightning on the break

Excellent so far, although I fear England are going to stink things up tonight.

Good so far but there's still teams that haven't played so plenty of time for it to go all meh.

Me too. Refs are letting games flow as well which has helped.

It's shaping up nicely easily the best start in the last few tournaments.

We have Messi, Ronanldo and Neymar ( along with another load a bit behind them ) so it's looking good right now for fans of the beautiful game.

The world: “been a great start to this tournament. Action packed games and lots of goals!”
England: “hold my beer, we’ve got this!”

First Word cup I've really enjoyed for a long time. No expectations for England just enjoying it for what it is.

Good. But then I enjoyed Brazil 2014 for the most part too.

Obviously no one liked the 2010 one because that was atrocious

I must be in the minority because so far I think it's pretty crap with the exception of Portugal and Spain who are light years ahead of all the others. However, can't wait for the proper stuff to begin with teams you expect to win getting knocked out on penalties

After the first week and having watched every team now, my observations are there are a whole load of crap teams in this, to the point that I honestly think that if West Ham were paired in a Group H along with Poland, Senegal, Japan and Colombia we would top that group. The quality and standard of the players in group were that bad. In fact, it appears to me there are a whole load of crap sides in the finals, full stop and only about six teams who are any good,
