Did Lukaku play? De Bruyne disappeared too.
Well done frogs.

That was like watching Mourinho's Chelsea in it's prime. Dull, boring, relying on a few individual moments of brilliance and winning off of a scrappy header that Allardyce would be proud of.
But they're still going to the Final.
But they're still going to the Final.

They deserved to win it, they just have more top quality than Belgium to me they was an English sides in the Champions League good but not good enough, considering they started with 10 prem players. Also Courtois made some awesome saves that could've easily gone in. Varane and Umitti were imperious, Lakkau wasn't in the game, even players like De Bruyne looked off it, Hazard for all his lively-ness and running didn't really go anywhere most of the time.

Why couldn't France put up that sort of defence in 1940?

De Bruyne has a touch of Gerrards about him, IMHO - scores great goals, fabulous striker and passer of the ball when he catches it right, but he doeesn't half give the ball away a lot, and never gets picked up for it in the commentary or "analysis"SullySpecial wrote:De Bruyne disappeared too.

France have just made relatively light work of another excellent team. They controlled that game very well, especially in the second half.

That Mbappe lad is a bit good isn't he?
If we do get there, his pace will concern me.

Seriously? I thought they were very impressive and will be very big favourites whoever they face in the final. The weakness they showed in the last Euros against Portugal doesn't seem to be there now.Algarve Hammer wrote:Assuming we can beat Croatia, I think we can win this, France didn't do anything to frighten us.

Belgium only seem to have one half a match in them. Sadly after their one half today it was 0-0. They were spent and France got the job done.
If we can beat Croatia we can beat France.

Bobby Brown shoes played right into France's hands by taking off Fellani.
He needed a goal and takes off probably the only man Belgium had that was capable of out muscling the French and bundling in a goal.

France capitalise on every single mistake and break with so much pace it is frightening.
However, they did look a little toothless against a solid, tight and well drilled Belgium back line so there is every hope for us or Croatia.
Keep it tight against them, let them lose their heads and pinch a goal from a set piece to become World Cup winners!
It could well happen for either us or Croatia.

Must admit that early on, it looked like Belgium were going to win this.
Unsurprisingly, very much like a PL game.
Top players in both teams but France got the goal that mattered.

Re: #61 France v Belgium - Semi-Final 1 ~ Match thread
France are almost the complete team for me
They have pace up top, hugely skillful players, unparalleled strength and power in midfield and are very tight at the back
They also have extreme tactical discipline which allows them to play at various tempos and suck the life out of the opposition if needed
I tipped them to win before the tournament and nothing leads me to change that
England have not come up against anything anywhere near as strong in this tournament in any department, and I fear they will prove too strong for us (if we get through)

Re: #61 France v Belgium - Semi-Final 1 ~ Match thread
I don't think that France were any better than Belgium and the game could have easily gone the other way if Lukaku had remembered his shooting boots and De Bruyne had bothered to show up. As it was, the best efforts of Hazard weren't enough.
I think there's very little to choose between the four semi-finalists and, while the game against Croatia won't be a cake walk, they're nothing to be scared of either. Assuming we get through, the game against France will be no different. The teams will be evenly matched and the winner will be the team that keeps their **** together best on the day.

Les ballons rentrent a la maison.
Amazing scenes here in France after that win.

I think we can win it too but Mbappe would frighten the devil. We have no player like that and haven’t since Gaza.Algarve Hammer wrote:Assuming we can beat Croatia, I think we can win this, France didn't do anything to frighten us.
