Really? Nothing? No law suits? No primadona players threatening to quit? No failed managerial changes? No new injuries? No owners spouting off?

Blimey. I shall retire to my hammock, have a beer and watch the Brisbane sunset in peace.

Cheers CH.

McCarthy set for rare Hammers start

Forgotten West Ham striker Benni McCarthy is set for a rare first team outing against Burnley in the FA Cup on Monday night.

The South African appears to have little, if any, future at the club and was thought to be on his way to Portsmouth on loan until they baulked at his wages.

Grant could turn to the 32-year-old former Porto man for the Cup clash with the Clarets, rather than risk any of his first choice strikers of whom Carlton Cole, Demba Ba and Freddy Piquionne are all likely to be available for selection.

After battling fitness troubles the £2m signing, from Blackburn 13 months ago, was left out of Grant's 25 man Premier League squad at the turn of the year but could be handed just his 15th first team start on Monday, although his long term future remains elsewhere.

Skipper Cesc Fabregas has given Arsenal fans fresh hope he might stay at the club despite the ongoing attentions of Barcelona, who he helped beat in the Champions League on Wednesday.

So, Cesc Fábregas is a target for Barcelona. Have you heard this one before? But the Catalans are yesterday's news, a shower of losers, so the Arsenal captain is now making noises about staying put at the Emirates. Thing is, everyone's talking about Jack Wilshere these days, so nobody cares any more, Cesc. Nobody cares.

Patrice Evra is going to stay at Manchester United, according to reports today. We didn't even know he was planning to go. We should probably have filtered this one out.

This is potentially quite big, though: Manchester United want to swap one-season wonder Federico Macheda and none-season wonder Anderson for the Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi. Either that, or they're talking about spending £14m they don't actually have.

José Enrique is a £6m target for one-time European giants Milan, who are looking for players vaguely capable of breaking into a run with a view to chasing after the opposition, making challenges, attempting to intercept the ball, etc. Liverpool are also interested in the Newcastle left-back, who is needless to say considered a trade-up for the perpetually confused Glen Johnson.

Connor Wickham, Ipswich's 17-year-old super-striker, has already attracted interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool. So it was only a matter of time before the Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp came sniffing around. And here he is, waving £15m around, plus the promise of the sort of tactical guidance ("just ****ing run around a bit") that has turned Roman Pavlyuchenko into the scoring powerhouse he is today.

And Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic are both interested in Middlesbrough's Julio Arca. Well that's a downbeat ending.

....

DAILY EXPRESS: Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn is to embark on a six-week crusade to win back the fans - up to 10,000 of them - who have turned their backs on the club to follow the team through illegal satellite broadcasts in pubs and clubs. Also: Liverpool slogged out an edgy goalless draw with Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic last night as Kenny Dalglish failed to make a big statement in his first game managing the Reds on the European stage.

DAILY STAR: Johan Djourou claims Arsenal are on the brink of greatness after their dramatic Champions League win over Barcelona. Also: Italian World Cup winner Daniele de Rossi is Sir Alex Ferguson's No.1 choice to replace Paul Scholes at Old Trafford.

DAILY MAIL: Joe Jordan launched a scathing attack on Gennaro Gattuso yesterday and described him as 'pathetic' for claiming racism played a part in their San Siro feud. Also: Furious fans' groups hit back last night after learning that the price of some tickets for May's Champions League final at Wembley has been doubled to £176.

THE SUN: Cesc Fabregas last night gave Arsenal fans a glimmer of hope that he might stay. Also: Joe Jordan has rubbished claims he provoked Milan nutter Gennaro Gattuso.

THE GUARDIAN: Only another Istanbul could have made a 9,394-day wait for Kenny Dalglish's first European game as Liverpool manager worthwhile but this non-event against Sparta Prague failed to meet the lowest expectation. Also: Jack Wilshere ended the "biggest night" of his career by leaving the Emirates having been handed the shirts of Xavi and Andres Iniesta, the two Barcelona heroes the Arsenal midfielder hopes to emulate.

THE INDEPENDENT: UEFA was last night asked to justify making this season's Champions League final at Wembley the most expensive ever, with cheapest prices of £150 plus a £26 administration fee making a mockery of president Michel Platini's claims that the event is being made more accessible to children. Also: Steve McClaren, the manager who sanctioned Edin Dzeko's £27m sale to Manchester City, believes the striker may not reach his peak until next season, a conclusion that Dzeko's current manager Roberto Mancini badly needs to see the Bosnian disprove in the fight for a top-four Premier League place.

DAILY TELEGRAPH: UEFA has been accused of "disgraceful exploitation" of supporters after announcing that tickets for the Champions League final at Wembley will be the most expensive in the competition's history. Also: For a man who recently played in a World Cup final, Cesc Fabregas's rating of Arsenal's victory over Barcelona at the Emirates on Wednesday as "the best game I have experienced on the pitch" is quite something.

See there is always gossip out there...

Thanks CH...
and nicely done hammer :crest:

The Irish Daily Mail

Frank Lampard believes his uncle and fellow Nintendo Wii adict Harry Redknapp would be an 'outstanding" England manager and has backed the Tottenkopt boss to replace Fabio after next year's Euro 2012 championships. Redknapp is the bookies' favourite to be bribed by the FA to succeed Capello and his stock grew even further on Tuesday night when he masterminded Tottenkopt's win by having Joe Jordan continually call Gennaro Gattuso a hairy Italian pr**k in his native Scottish,
Gattuso having played in Scotland attended night classes in Glasgow to learn the bonnie language,
said afterwards that he apologised and should never head butt an older man.

He should kick him in the nuts instead.
