Rovers keeper Robinson on Allardyce list

FORMER Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is ready to offer Paul Robinson a route back into the Premier League – should Robert Green carry out his Upton Park quit threat.

England stopper Green is out of contract at the end of June and has not agreed new terms having helped the Hammers win promotion back into the Premier League.

West Ham chairman David Gold has admitted on Twitter that he expects Green to leave this summer, leaving the Premier League new boys looking for a replacement.

Rovers’ number one Paul Robinson is understood to be high up on Allardyce’s wish list of replacements, having been a big admirer of him during their time together at Ewood Park.

Allardyce (pic-tured right) has other names on his short list though, includ-ing free agent Jussi Jaaskelainen from Bolton, and might be put off Robinson by the expected high price tag Venky’s are likely to place on him.

The departure of Robinson would help cut Rovers’ wage bill in preparation for Championship football, with Mark Bunn and Jake Kean ready to slot into the number one and number two berths.

Rovers know they will be unable to keep both Robinson and Bunn at the club next season and so would be tempted into offloading the former England goalkeeper for the right price.

Allardyce touted Robin-son for an England recall when he was his boss at Ewood Park and would jump at the chance to be reunited with him.

Rovers skipper Robinson could also be tempted into being handed another stint in the top flight but could be priced out of a move.

Hammers set sights on Holt, Anelka, Jaaskelainen

West Ham have confirmed that they have had a bid rejected for Grant Holt, and that they are also chasing Nicolas Anelka and former Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Holt publicly stated his desire to leave Norwich last week, and the Hammers - looking for a new goalscorer after securing promotion back to the Premier League - saw an offer of £3 million turned down by the Canaries.

Norwich chief executive David McNally denied on Twitter that a bid had been received but a West Ham source saidtold ESPN: "It is true what Norwich are saying, West Ham did not bid £4 million for him. [But] a bid of £3 million was lodged for Holt."

The Hammers may still return with an improved bid for Holt, though the two clubs are thought to differ in their valuations of the player.

Sam Allardyce is determined to bolster West Ham's strikeforce ahead of the club's return to the top flight and is also considering trying to convince former Chelsea and Real Madrid forward Anelka, whom he signed for Bolton in 2004, to return to English football.

Tottenham and QPR are also reportedly interested in Aneka, with the Frenchman thought to favour a move back to the Premier league from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenuha, though his wages could prove a stumbling block for the Hammers.

West Ham are also interested in Stoke's Kenwyne Jones and Wigan free agent http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/arch ... 36092a.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, but whatever the problems in signing a new striker, the Hammers have already lined up a new goalkeeper.

With Rob Green released by the club, Allardyce is keen to be reunited with his former keeper Jaaskelainen, who left the Reebok Stadium earlier this month.

The Filth to raid West Ham for Rob Green and James Tomkins

Harry Redwanker has identified England's number two goalkeeper as a player he wants to add to his squad this summer.
Robert Green is one of two West Ham players Tottenham are aiming to sign this summer Robert Green is one of two West Ham players The Filth are aiming to sign this summer

Hammers co-chairman David Gold confirmed over the weekend that Green will be leaving Upton Park on a free transfer after seeing out his contract with the club.

With 41-year-old Brad Friedel and Carlo Cudicini, 38, among his goalkeeping ranks, Redknapp needs a younger option in this area and Green seems to fit the bill.

As well as entering negotiations with the former Norwich stopper, Spurs have tabled a £5 million bid for Tomkins, which their London rivals are currently considering.

Tomkins is rated as one of the country's best youngsters in the heart of defence and played all but one of West Ham's matches last season as they secured an immediate return to the Premier League.

Caught Offside suggested Spurs are keen to add two centre-backs to their squad this summer, with Ledley King expected to retire and Ryan Nelsen due to move to the MLS. Belgian Jan Vertonghen will be one and they hope to make Tomkins the other.

West Ham are expected to fight hard to keep the 23-year-old, but his head could be turned by the prospect of European football at White **** Lane

It's a fairly quiet day in the world of football transfer gossip, with scribes across the country presumably too busy waving flags like dim serfs, alongside the rest of this miserably submissive nation, to make anything up.

Arsenal are planning an £8m deal for Lucas Biglia, the Anderlecht midfielder. Real Madrid are also very interested, however, so that's that.

Real Madrid are additionally sniffing around David Silva, but the Spanish international seems happy enough to keep gnawing on Manchester City's teat.

Brendan Rodgers has barely got his feet under the desk at Liverpool, and already he's having to shoo suitors away from Luis Suárez. Juventus are prepared to offer a paltry £16m for the striker, and are also talking about throwing Eljero Elia or Milos Krasic into the deal. Rodgers isn't having a bar of it, though you sense this won't be the Uruguayan's last appearance in the Rumour Mill this summer.

Juventus also want Robin van Persie, though that's hardly news.

Sunderland wish to sign Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady, though might be best advised to wait until the former Celtic star has completed an underwhelming Euro 2012 before deciding how much to offer.

Borussia Mönchengladbach, from the 1970s, are planning a bid for Junior Hoilett. We like this retro vibe. More St Etienne, Magdeburg and Derby County in the Rumours, please!

Tottenham Hotspur might be tempted to cash in on Gareth Bale, before he spends too much time in central midfield and is found out. Manchester City, are expected to pip Barcelona, St Etienne, Magdeburg and Derby County to his signature.

With Luka Modric tempted by a move to Manchester United, Harry Redknapp might cash in his own chips and bugger off to Qatar.

Liverpool have also joined the unedifying scramble for Crewe's 18-year-old prodigy Nick Powell. We'll see what Manchester United and Arsenal have to say about that.

Fraser Forster, on loan at Celtic from Newcastle, wants to join Rangers, albeit the Rangers of the London-based Queens Park variety, so let's all calm down. Heurelho Gomes, Rob Green and Ben Foster are also in the frame for the gig, with Paddy Kenny likely to head off to Leeds United and his old pal Neil Warnock.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are locked in battle to sign Birmingham City midfielder Foday Nabay, who is 14. 14. He's 14. How can this possibly mean anything to anyone?

Eskisehirspor are interested in Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky.

Wigan Athletic want free agent goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

And we are all wretches, fawning servile wretches. The state of us, grown adults and all.

f*** Redknapp, he'll have to pay more than 5 million for Tomkins. Perhaps we could do as Gummi suggested in The Transfer thread.
Every time that mug Arry submits a silly bid I'd do the same if I was Sullivan.

They submit 5 mio for Tomkins, you give counter offer Tomkins for 25 mio + Modric + Bale

Or out of blue - Modric + Bale for £500,000 and Piquionne.

The Tomkins story is just another attempt in a long line of **** fest wind ups perpetrated by the North London sewer kings - they get off on getting a reaction from us and more often than not, get one.

Can't do anything about Green going there if that's what he wants.

I agree that Jones is a bit of a gamble, however I have seen him be absolutely superb on his day and a couple of years ago for Sunderland he was looking like a real player.

If we could get him for a bargain and Sam could get him playing he may be a good signing.
