Chelsea exit: Yossi Benayoun (left) is set to leave Stamford Bridge this week

West Ham wait to pounce on Chelsea outcast Benayoun and free agent Yacob

Yossi Benayoun is expected to announce his departure from Chelsea this week, with West Ham, Ajax and Maccabi Haifa all keen.

The Israel midfielder, who spent almost all of last season on loan at Arsenal, posted on Twitter: 'I hope I will have some news about my future soon.'

West Ham are interested in Argentina midfielder Claudio Yacob, 24, a free agent after leaving Racing.

West Ham Linked with a Defensive Midfielder!

One of the areas of the squad that defintely needs addressing this summer is midfield anchor. Yet, so far, and it is admittedly early days, we have not been linked with any players in that particular position. Numerous different forwards yes, defnsive midfielders no! Until this evening that is, when it was reported that Sam Allardyce is considering making a bid for former Racing Club defensive midfielder, Cladio Yacob.

In the last season or two Yacob has been watched by both Man Utd and Arsenal, without either making a move. The rumour being that they do not feel that he is ideally suited to the frentic, fast pace of the EPL. Yet at 24 years of age, an Argentina international, and a free agent he may well be worth a gamble.

Elsewhere, most Hammers fans were hoping for a bid for Wolves left-winger, Matt Jarvis, but the latest rumours are that we may be going for the cheaper option on Wolves' right wing, Micheal Knightley. He could be a good signing, as long as he is over his past injury problems?

Chelsea are eyeing a £20m move for Everton's 24-year-old Marouane Fellaini, who tops their list of candidates for a midfield enforcer.

Daily Mirror

Queens Park Rangers have made an audacious bid to sign Montpellier and France striker Olivier Giroud, 25, who is rated at £50m by his club.

Daily Mail

Premier League new boys Southampton are set to complete the signing of Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez, 22, for a fee of £7m.

talkSPORT

Chris Hughton plans to return to Birmingham City for defender Curtis Davies, 27, once he is confirmed as the new Norwich manager.

Daily Mirror

Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Malaga's 22-year-old Venezuelan striker Salomon Randon, who is reportedly valued at £20m by the Spanish side.

FootyLatest

Liverpool are targeting Manchester City winger Adam Johnson, 24, with a bid set to be in the region of £16m, and will hope to lure him with the promise of regular first-team football.

Caught Offside

Sunderland midfielder David Meyler has tipped Jordan Henderson to become a future England captain.
talkSPORT

Chelsea have told Roberto Di Matteo they would like him to remain as manager with sources at Stamford Bridge increasingly confident the Italian will still be in charge at the start of the new season.

Daily Mail

The Denmark team, departing for Euro 2012, were treated to a rousing airport send-off - including trumpets.

RUUD GULLIT has told Arsenal they must sign big players to keep Robin van Persie at the club.
Follow The Sun on Twitter

Dutch legend Gullit said: “The question for Van Persie will be what Arsenal are going to do to make this a winning team. The best players want to win trophies.”

ARSENAL’S hopes of off-loading Andrey Arshavin to Zenit St Petersburg have been dented by a poor loan spell.

Gunners hope the Russian will shine at the Euros so the deal can be permanent.

CLINT HILL is close to signing a new one-year deal with QPR.

And that will be a disappointment to Leeds boss Neil Warnock, who had hoped to sign the defender, 33, as a free agent.

Would be good to get Benayoun back, the way he left the club was a bit disappointing though, imagine where we could have been if he had stayed

Always felt we lacked that creative spark since he left...

Cheers, CH

As for Yossi....
he had a few season for us, and left as soon as he could.
Always putting the interest of his national side above the club.
He supposedly agreed a contract with West Ham United, and left when Liverpool came knocking.

Why take this player back?

He is also older, slower, and haven't played regularly the last 3 seasons.

I thought he was at least 30. His hair must be older than that!

Would love to get Yossi back. The way he left wasn't ideal but a move to Liverpool was a big step up for an ambitious player. He always gave it his all when he played for us.

He would be perfect to provide that creative spark that we desperately lack in midfield. Sign him up!!!

24 years old

He'd be a top signing for Chelsea I reckon and would complement the flair players well

Benayoun was good in the first season and then went awol and attitudeee, I would say he wasn't much different to Defoe or Reo Coker.

I'd go as far as to say that he is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. Has the rare talent of being able to do it all.

A good replacement for Essien.

Makes me laugh, the punters on here wanting Benayon back. Yes he was good but is much older slower and still money orientated. The way they go on they'll be wanting Geoff Martin and Devonshire back.

I'd hate to see that lank-haired, long-nosed, injury ****ing, dishonest knob back in claret & blue, I'd rather we signed Defoe, Ince Reo-Coker and Sean Bean before signing him again.

I could be wrong but I reckon he won more medals with us (2006 Runners-Up) than with Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal combined. Karma?

Ta CH, sterling work
