Gold plans to Hammer Brescia

WEST HAM will sue Brescia for cash they claim to be owed from Alessandro Diamanti's transfer to Bologna.

Italy international Diamanti, who scored the winning penalty in last night’s shootout victory over England in Kiev, signed for the Hammers in August 2009 from Livorno for £6million.

He scored seven goals in 18 Premier League appearances for the club before returning to Italy after just one season in the Premier League.

But it is the striker’s subsequent transfer to Bologna in a co-ownership deal following Brescia’s relegation to Serie B that has angered West Ham.

In July 2011, the Premier League newcomers asked for Diamanti’s registration by the Italian Football Federation to be suspended as they had not yet been paid the latest installment of the £2m transfer fee.

And Hammers co-owner David Gold remains determined to secure the money his club are owed.

Gold tweeted: "We sold Diamanti to Brescia because he was desperate to return to Italy.

“He was then sold to Bologna and we are suing Brescia for the money.”

West Ham flop Pablo Barrera is set to return to his native Mexico and sign for the Cruz Azul club.

Winger Barrera, now 25, joined the Hammers in July 2010 for £4million from his homeland's Club Universidad Nacional.

But the Mexico international has made just six league starts for the Upton Park club.

He was loaned out to Spanish side Real Zaragoza last season following Hammers' relegation to the Championship and is now set to leave permanently this summer to join Mexico City side Azul.

Highly-rated: Botia (left) began his career at Barcelona

Promoted West Ham target highly-rated Sporting defender Botia

West Ham are tracking Sporting Gijon centre back Alberto Botia, 23.

Manager Sam Allardyce is keen to add to his defensive options ahead of the club's return to the Premier League.

The club released Abdoulaye Faye at the end of the season, leaving James Tomkins and Winston Reid as their only recognised centre-backs.

Botia is a product of the Barcelona academy and joined Sporting in 2010.

Swing the zone: O'Neil (right) plans a career in golf after football

O'Neil does not make the grade in Open Championship qualifier

West Ham United footballer Gary O'Neil failed to make it into the Open Championship as he shot a seven over par round of 79 in a regional qualifier.

The Hammers midfielder 29, was among 118 golfers battling it out at The London Golf Club in Kent for a place at Royal Lytham and St Annes.

O'Neil still hopes this could be the start of a new career when his professional playing days come to an end.

The former Portsmouth and Middlesbrough star plays off scratch, but before the qualifier conceded his chances of hitting the top of the pro tours are unlikely to materialise.

He told The Sun: 'I am realistic enough to know I need to improve a lot but if I could be a pro golfer when my football career ends it would definitely be something I would look to do.

'But my problem at the moment is consistency. My bad shots can go 50 yards off line and that will cost you two shots straightaway.

'I don't think there is anything major that needs changing, it's just about having the time to be able to practise.

Hammers poised to move for Crystal Palace starlet

West Ham are poised to make a move for Crystal Palace defender Nathaniel Clyne.

Clyne, 21, is rated one of the best full backs outside the Premier League and has already attracted interest from both Manchester United and Newcastle.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is hoping to bring in at least five new signings during the summer and has been impressed with the performances of the talented defender.

With Julien Faubert leaving the club during the summer, Allardyce is looking to sign another right sided player and hopes to strike a deal with the south London club.

West Ham have already been knocked back in their attempts to sign Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha, but hope for a better outcome as they look to bring Clyne to Upton Park.

west ham till i die

Another Day, Another Transfer Target!

That 'hit list' of Sam Allardyce's transfer targets must be very long if the media speculation is to be believed. Not a day goes by without West Ham being linked to another player and the latest is ...... Alberto Botia of Sporting Gijon in the Spanish League. Botia is an ex-product of Barca's youth Academy and is a domineering, 23 year old, centre-half. Well, I suppose it makes a change from Forwards, doesn't it?

Apparently, Botia got rave reviews last season and Sam Allardyce has allegedly been alerted to his potential as cover/competition for Tomkins and Reid. We certainly need at least one centre-half in view of the fact that we only have two first team centre-backs at present. Elsewhere, we have been continually linked with Wilfred Zaha at Crystal Palace, but many of us have been equally keen to see whether we can tempt talented Palace right-back, Nathan Clyne, away from the attractions of Old Trafford. You will recall that Clyne is able to leave Palace as a Bosman signing and that both Man Utd (unconfirmed) and Newcastle Utd (confirmed) are interested. Well, one report has us stealing a march in signing Clyne. Lets hope so!

So, we are still waiting for the next big signing! Will it be Clyne, Zaha, Elia or Holt? Most of us hope that some of the other rumours, like that pertaining to a West Ham interest in DJ Campbell, are well wide of the mark. I do not think that we have to much to worry about there, Campell may have been a target in the Championship, but our sights have to be set higher if we are to thrive in the PL next season. Yet another rumour relates to an interest Sunderland, and ex-Man Utd and Spurs, striker, Fraiser Campbell. He was a promising prospect a couple of seasons back, but he suffered continual injury problems last season. Do we really need another player with an injury question mark over him or is he worth a gamble?

Finally, it would seem that Diamanti's lively, and match winning, performance against England has resurrected old feelings of malcontent down Upton Park Way. David Gold has confirmed on Twitter that the club are looking to take Brescia to Court over their failure to pay one penny of the £1.8m transfer fee that is owed West Ham. Good for them, you cannot just sign a player, not pay the selling club and then sell the player on to another club. Down that road lies financial choas. What on earth do Brescia think they are doing. No doubt EUFA will step in and impose a solution before it gets to Court. But West Ham have aleady tried to do it the right way, by appealing to the Italian FA, with no tangible results. So, alternative tactics are obviously necessary!

Although many of us might prefer that Brescia keep their £1.8m and we get Diamanti back. However, how (or if) he would be used by Sam Allardyce is an interesting moot point? But then again if Allardyce wants the brilliant, but individualistic, Elia, then perhaps he does like that type of player?

SJ. Chandos.

Birmingham City: West Ham want Nathan Redmond for £1m

Birmingham City wonderkid Nathan Redmond is being eyed up by West Ham United.
Fancy a Bet? Free £25 Bet with Blue Square

The club’s young player-of-the-season could be ripe for the picking due to Blues’ financial problems, the Hammers believe.

They are ready to test the water with a £1 million offer plus a series of appearance-related add-ons.

West Ham reckon the winger is worth around £4 million-£5 million but it is classic David Sullivan tactics not to front-load a proposal with a sizeable down payment in the knowledge that a club are in need of cash.

Redmond, 18, made a major breakthrough last season, particularly lighting up Blues’ Europa League campaign.

L'Arry Redknapp, anyone? That's how we may soon have to refer to the man who is not being used to bash Roy Hodgson so much these days ever since Hodgson won sceptics over by guiding England to two squeaky victories at Euro 2012 before they were comprehensively outplayed by the first decent team they came up against, as usual. While all that was happening, it may have escaped your attention that Tottenham jilted their erstwhile manager, who quickly declared his ambition to return to gaffership at the first suitable opportunity. Would an opportunity that could entail speaking a language other than Engerlish and ingratiating himself with a whole new pack of press 'ounds be considered suitable? Marseille hope so, as, according to decidedly dubious chatter in the ether, they are hoping to entice L'Arry to the south of France, a region where football is a passion and dogs have bank accounts.

Word is there is a vacancy at Marseille because Didier Deschamps has decided not to renew his contract. And in a pleasing piece of symmetry, Deschamps is expected to sidle into L'Arry's old chair at White Hart Lane. Deschamps is hardly known for the flair and adventure of his teams but Daniel Levy is believed to consider that but a small quibble compared to the size of his trophy collection.

Another Frenchman on the move could be Florent Malouda, who is considering doing what all of the France team who stunk out Euro 2012 should do: scarper to Brazil. He remains in touch with his old Lyon chum Juninho, who is said to be helping arrange a transfer to Vasco da Gama.

A player who had a much more impressive Euro than any Frenchman or England was the Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic, whose slick displays convinced Bayern Munich that he's the man for them: which means Manchester City are likely to be left lumbered with Eden Dzeko. Joleon Lescott may be on his way away from Manchester, however, as City are said to be mulling over letting him go to Liverpool, which would facilitate City's swoop for Daniel Agger. If that elaborate plot is thwarted, City will just go buy Fabricio Coloccini.

Roman Abramovich is still so high on Champions League glory that he may actually stump up the humungous fee that Atlético Madrid are demanding for relentless striker Radamel Falcao. Although he may raise a smattering of the amount by flogging Raul Meireles to Napoli.

Sunderland are plotting a move for the flip side of Kevin Doyle, aka Steven Fletcher, the not particularly mobile or dynamic striker who actually scores goals.

Birmingham City are on the verge of hiring Lee Clark.

And Chelsea fans will be aware that one of the hallmarks of having Didier Drogba's tenure at a club is constant rumblings of discontent and word reaches the Mill that the Ivorian could be ready to turn his back on Shanghai Shenhua. Reportedly there is a clause in his contract allowing him to talk to Barcelona should the Catalans come calling, although sources close to the Mill – HP, etc – suggest this to be rather dubious chat.

£6m Or A Loan Deal Suggested For Dutch Forward

Premier League clubs are circling Luc Castaignos after Inter Milan made the Dutch forward available for transfer.

Newly promoted West Ham United are the front runners for the former Feyenoord starlet, though the 19 year old is attracting interest from other Premier League sides as well as from Serie A.

Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle and Everton are all look for new strikers for the 2012 season and are believed to have registered an interest in Castaignos, though Inter Milan are asking for £6m or a loan deal worth £1.6m – though Inter would rather loan him out to a fellow Serie A side to get the youngster some valuable experience.

Having gained a sensational reputation with Feyenoord for being a goalscoring machine, Castaignos has found first team action hard to come by at the San Siro and now appears to be heading out of Milan.

Given his limited match action in recent times, I don’t think a loan move would be good for teams like Liverpool or Tottenham. If they buy him, they can have time to develop him but with a loan player you’re asking for an impact over a short period of time. Everton or West Ham make more sense for the Dutchman because he’s more likely to be on the pitch for those teams. Even at Newcastle he’d struggle to play with Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse banging goals in for fun last season.

The Milan giants are currently undergoing a lot of changes this summer with Lucio and Maicon seemingly set for the exit and Castaignos could follow. For a long term project, a big club could get a bargain, whilst a team in need of a striker could get some value out of him for a year.

]Reports in the Spanish media suggest that Barcelona are lining up a colossal bid to snatch 23-year old German center-back Mats Hummels from German champions Borussia Dortmund. Manchester United have been long time admirers of the youngster and are keen to also get in on the action, however, having already tempted star playmaker Shinji Kagawa away from Dortmund, the club are unlikely to want to do business with them.

The Daily Mirror reports that West Ham United winger Pablo Barrera is set to leave the club this summer and return to Mexico where he will sign for Cruz Azul. Barrera failed to settle at Upton Park after making a £4 million move a couple of seasons ago. The Hammers are keen to cut their losses, and this one looks certain to go through.

The Daily Mail also has some Hammers news, reporting that Sporting Gijon’s central defender Alberto Botia is being courted by Big Sam Allardyce. The 23 year old, who started out in the Barcelona academy, had an impressive last season with Sporting, and would be a good fit at West Ham should he decide to switch to the Premier League.

Daily Star reports that recently promoted Southampton are looking at free agent Tomas Sivok as a defensive reinforcement. The Saints are preparing for life in the top tier, and feel that signing the 28 year old Czech Republic defender would help them in their bid to stay in the Premier League. Sivok is primarily a defensive-midfielder, but can also play at the back if the need arises. His contract with Turkish club Besiktas ended this year, and it remains to be seen if he is ready to take a possible wage cut to play with the Saints.

Any talks of Norwich keeper John Ruddy heading to Aston Villa to link up with former Manager Paul Lambert and of England no.3 Jack Butland replacing him at the club have been put to rest by the 25-year old signing a new 4-year contract with the Canaries.

Danny Murphy has joined last season’s relegated side Blackburn Rovers on a two-year deal, the club website announced yesterday. The 35 year-old has skippered Fulham for the past four seasons, having played for Tottenham and Liverpool in the past. The veteran midfielder is Steve Kean’s first signing this summer as the Rovers look to bounce right back into the top tier of English football. The Rovers manager said about the signing, “Being able to bring Danny on board is a massive boost for everyone and I couldn’t be more delighted.”

The Daily Mail report that Fulham are looking to sign young midfielder Aaron Ramsey from London rivals Arsenal to fill the void left by the departed Murphy. The Wales Captain, Ramsey, did not have a great first season with the Gunners after moving up from midfield into Cesc Fabregas’ advanced playmaker role, but given the fact that he is only 21, one feels that Arsene Wenger would definitely hold on to the player, who has a lot of potential.

Reports in Italian newspaper La Nazionale suggest that Fiorentina’s versatile midfielder Juan Manuel Vargas would stay at the club after his suitors failed to match the club valuation of·£12 million. The clubs chasing Vargas were believed to be Liverpool, Aston Villa and Bayern Munich. The 28 year old can play in any position down the left wing and would be a great addition to any team because of his versatility and quality.
