Boy for Brazil: Chelsea say they won't loan Lukaku out - which may hurt his World Cup chances

West Ham cheer on Chelsea as they chase Edinson Cavani.. so they can borrow Romelu Lukaku

West Ham have their fingers crossed that Chelsea manage to buy Edinson Cavani - as they hope his arrival will help their chances of signing the Blues' Romelu Lukaku on loan.

The Hammers are holding out for the Blues' brilliant Belgian after having a £10.2million bid for Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony rejected.

Bony, 24, scored 31 goals in 30 games for Vitesse last season, and is currently one of the hottest properties in Europe.

But West Ham are unlikely to increase their bid for him, with Swansea and Newcastle also in the hunt.

Instead, they are want to pair Chelsea marksman Lukaku, superb on a year-long loan at West Brom last season, with £15m signing Andy Carroll - as first revealed by MirrorFootball back in May.

While new Blues boss Jose Mourinho wants Lukaku to be part of his plans for next season, West Ham have not given up hope of taking the 20-year-old Belgium international and offering him regular first-team football in World Cup year.

The boy can finish: Bony scored 31 goals in 30 Eredivisie games last season

West Ham join Swansea in race for Bony as Hammers submit £10.2m bid

West Ham have made a £10.2m bid for highly-rated Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony.

Sportsmail understands the Hammers have matched Swansea City's bid for the Ivory Coast star, made last week, as the race to sign the 24-year old hots up.

It's believed Bony is keen on a switch to England although a host of clubs across Europe are keen on signing him.

The frontman was in blistering form during last season's Eredivisie campaign and scored 31 goals in 30 games for Vitesse.

Should the Upton Park club secure Bony's signature, West Ham boss Sam Allardyce would have the option to pair him up front with Hammers' record signing Andy Carroll having signed the former Liverpool man for £15m earlier this summer.

Bony spent three years in the Czech Republic with Sparta Prague before securing a move to Holland in 2011.

Bony 'bid' shocks West Ham insiders

West Ham insiders stunned over reports that the club have bid £10m for Wilfried Bony

Exclusive

Reports that West Ham United have bid £10 million for striker Wilfried Bony just days after buying £16 million Andy Carroll have stunned club insiders.

Sky Sports News has reported that the Hammers have moved in on the player just hours after he was believed to be set for a move to Swansea City.

Senior sources inside West Ham were keeping their lips firmly sealed but one insider revealed it would be a huge shock if the report was true.

He told Sports Direct News exclusively: "The club has borrowed around £10 million against its Sky TV earnings for next season from an offshore lending company - Vibrac Corporation - to pay off part of its historic debt.

"But the club remained £70 million in debt before the £16 million plus personal terms deal that brought Carroll here was agreed.

"There has been no word inside the club about Bony but if its true it's impossible to make sense of in financial terms.

"Even in footballing terms it all seems off the radar because [manager] Sam Allardyce only plays one up and they are looking for a Carlton Cole type replacement who can take over in Cup games or when Andy is unavailable."

The Vibrac Corporation acts on a similar basis to pay day loan companies and is based in the British Virgin Islands.

The maximum sum West Ham could have drawn so far on the TV deal is £16m, which is the amount they are guaranteed to get from the Premier League next season in 'parachute' money, even if relegated this season.

Sullivan increases share of West Ham

Exclusive

Co-chairman David Sullivan is now West Ham United's largest single shareholder under a £25.5 million restructuring of the club's senior debt.

Law firm DLA Piper - of whom Sullivan is a longstanding client - is among a number of companies to have advised on the deal.

Businessman Sullivan took over West Ham in 2010 alongside David Gold, when the duo purchased a 50 per cent stake in the club from asset management company CB Holding, valuing it at £105m.

Sullivan has now acquired a further 25 per cent of shares in West Ham from CB.

The DLA team advising Sullivan was led by corporate partner Mel Sims and senior associate Patrick Tweedale, with partner Alex Griffith and senior associate Smridhi Gulati advising on the banking side.

Sims said: "We are delighted to have advised David on his latest investment in the football club. It is an exciting time for West Ham, having had a solid first year back in the Premiership and with the move to the Olympic Stadium on the horizon.

"It is also a fascinating time for the professional football sector in general. The implementation of the financial fair play rules, coupled with the lucrative new TV deal, should prove beneficial to the long-term development, growth and stability of the game and its clubs."

West Ham was taken over by CB Holding in June 2009 when the club's former chairman Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson was declared bankrupt in the wake of the Icelandic financial crisis

Ravel Morrison to be given West Ham chance

West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison has been given another chance to stake his claim for a regular first-team place next season.

Big things were expected from the talented youngster when he made the move from Manchester United back in January 2012.

But he failed to make any major impact under Sam Allardyce and was sent out on loan to Birmingham last summer, where he enjoyed a successful season in the Championship.

The Midlands club would like to take the 20-year-old back to St Andrew's, but Morrison has returned to West Ham for the start of pre-season and has flown out with the squad for their training camp in Ireland this week.

Allardyce will now cast his eye over the midfielder during the next few weeks and determine if he is ready to force his way into the squad.

Morrison has seen his career plagued by off-the field disciplinary problems and the West Ham boss will be wanting to see if he has managed to overcome them.
