Former England man may sign on for longer at Upton Park.

West Ham Boss Sam Allardyce Confirms Fresh Talks With Carlton Cole

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has admitted that he has opened talks with Carlton Cole over a new contract with the club, according to reports in the Metro.

The former England international was released by the club at the end of last season, but re-joined in October on a short term deal after the club failed to land another striker in the wake of Andy Carroll’s latest long term injury.

And Cole has impressed during his second stint at Upton Park, bagging three goals against Fulham, Manchester United and Arsenal, and now Big Sam is eager to tie him down to a longer deal.

“We’ve got that in mind and are talking about that as quickly as we possibly can because obviously it needs to be addressed,” he said.

“Carlton will be dealt with very shortly.”

The Hammers are set to welcome Carroll back into the fold for the first time this season as well as being strongly linked with a loan move for new Monaco striker Lacina Traore, but the 30-year-old is said to have done enough to warrant a longer deal over the past three months.

We're gonna be linked with every just-above-average striker going!

Why would Spuds let Defoe leave?

Chelski might loan us Demba Ba but he won't sign on a permanent deal because we are likely to be going down. Been there got the T-shirt!

Cheers CH- a big article by jonathon northcroft in the times today called " hammered to the bottom " ( if you have it apols- i didnt see it when just read through) Its a subscriptions service other wise i'd show it.

If that isnt a west ham written document then im a china man...honestly, do they really think a reputable new journo ( is there such a thing) could put together such a one -eyed " arent west ham lucky to have sam allardyce" document- if they wanted to write an new article they could focus on the team he might be putting out instead of the usual " we'll be top ten when our injured players are back" bull****.

So Lambert, Ba , Traore, Cole. Are we to assume that Maiga will go?
What a waste of money. I'd say only the last two are pretty definite.

You have to say that defenders is possibly more of a concern than strikers.
There are actually teams with more injuries than us - just not as vital to them.

Does 'no return date' mean that a fitness test is imminent or that they could be selected/feature?
