Re: Retractable seating at the OS
Atmosphere remains perfectly possible at tBG - those last few games when Curbs The Boring kept us up - or when we beat Man U and Liverpool in consecutive matches the following season are proof of that.
I honestly wonder though - will it actually be possible to do this, in the OS? The stands look too shallow, even for basic noise retention.

IF we get into Europe, UEFA do not allow temporary stands

^^ Easily overcome: page 7
"Temporary stands: seating which, by virtue of its material, design and
construction, is clearly intended for use for a very limited period and is not
fixed to a suitable load-bearing foundation."
If they were going to have temp seating for 9 months of the year, would definitely be fixed to a load bearing foundation.

I doubt that will happen, as it will have to be moved in and for concerts and whatever other events are on, like school sports days.Wembley1966 wrote:^^ Easily overcome: page 7

Fulhams stands are temporary - they've been up for a decade , but trust me they are temporary .

Re: Retractable seating at the OS
If we do get retractable seating, how far will the roof be extended to cover the seats nearer the pitch?
If you sit 'on the track' seats with that small roof, you'll get wet hair, a soggy pie and watered down beer if it pours!!!

Isn't the whole upper tier technically temporary! :lol:Pop Robson wrote:IF we get into Europe, UEFA do not allow temporary stands

Re: Retractable seating at the OS
I was at the Business Start-up Show at Earls Court today where David Gold was a speaker. He answered questions from the floor for 30 minutes - probably about half from West Ham fans there and half business questions. Afterwards he hung around for 45 minutes chatting to people - and I asked him afterwards specifically about 'retractable seating' - his response:
It could be either retractable or demountable – I think that we must keep our minds open – we’re looking at lots of different models. Personally I think that it will probably will be part and part – some of it will be retractable as it swings on a kind of pendulum and others will be like lego where you bring out the seating – not like temporary seating – you wouldn’t know the difference, it comes out – takes 2 weeks to construct and 2 weeks to dismount. We’re looking at all the options – but first we have to get it.

Cheers 66
Doesn't sound too Iconic, still they'll have think if they get the stadium and not do it anywayIt could be either retractable or demountable – I think that we must keep our minds open – we’re looking at lots of different models. Lego eh? Like the towers in front of the West Stand? Sounds like an utter car crash IMO.Wembley1966 wrote:it will probably will be part and part – some of it will be retractable as it swings on a kind of pendulum and others will be like lego where you bring out the seating – not like temporary seating – you wouldn’t know the difference, it comes out – takes 2 weeks to construct and 2 weeks to dismount.

Re: Retractable seating at the OS
So we have a think about what we want to do, then get the stadium, then realise we can't do what we hoped for. What then?Wembley1966 wrote: We’re looking at all the options – but first we have to get it.
Surely best to ensure we can do what we plan to, then get the stadium on the basis these plans are fulfilled?
Still, at least they've now changed their tune and aren't talking about sight lines but rather that we need retractable/temporary seating.

Re: Retractable seating at the OS
If Gold is willing to discuss this in public, why oh why can't the club reveal any 'plans' to us skeptical fans?It could be either retractable or demountable – I think that we must keep our minds open – we’re looking at lots of different models. I have also yet to hear any sensible suggestion about the roof. Does anyone have any idea how this will this cover retractable/demountable seating over the track?
1966 - did anyone ask him if fans will be consulted on this before they decide to bid? He keeps saying words to that effect.
