Re: Leyton Orient bid to ground-share with West Ham
So let me get this straight Barry:
You are against us moving to a stadium 2.5 miles away (as opposed to about 4 which is roughly how far we are away at the moment) but you're quite happy to actually be in the same place?
Retractable seating makes sense now does it?
Worried about real estate prices in Leyton by any chance are we?

Yeah exactly what I thought. Where's the logic? I hope this invalidates his argument about us moving closer. Even though I don't think he had a leg to stand on anyway as we're already close and moving within our OWN borough. As well as the fact he was ok about the Spuds moving in.stevenmj wrote:So; West Ham moving to within a mile and a half will 'kill Leyton Orient' but actually moving in with us (a distance of 0.0 miles) would be a good solution for them. F**k off Hearn you hypocritical T**t.

This is the option that most appeals to me . I have nothing againsthe the club or ist fans , but hearn comes across as a **** and should be treated accordingly.BSB1 wrote:If I were the Dave's I'd string that **** along until the last possible moment then hang him out to dry.
Re: Leyton Orient bid to ground-share with West Ham
That's why I'd tell him to stick it. Us moving within our own borough, not even that far a distance would apparently kill them off, but he's happy to see another big club, with as big a fan base as us I would imagine, move into the area so they'd have even more competition for fans. Re: Leyton Orient bid to ground-share with West Ham
Can you imagine how many tickets could be sold for the OS after the Olympics if the first event was a 15-round boxing contest between Barry Hearn and Kevin McCabe ? At 30 Pounds each I reckon it could be a sellout after 2 hours...

If the O's don't mind:
- subletting
- playing in a claret & blue arena
- paying a hearty whack of the fees
...I don't see the downside.
Otherwise, I don't see the upside...we're not equal (commercial) partners are we?
But anyway, the OS is "totally unsuitable for football..." isn't it, Barry?

Re: Leyton Orient bid to ground-share with West Ham
I would guess that with us winning promotion and the Premier League likely to rubber stamp our move that Hearn's legal team have told him the game is up. I see this as a last desperate attempt to screw what he can out of the taxpayer, us or anyone else he can think of.
If some of us think it is bad about the empty seats in the OS if we go there for low profile games then I would imagine the O's fans nightmares would be far worse.

He could still carpet it in flats and shops and sell off the leaseholds...Romford wrote:Waltham Forest council owns the land i think...

Unbelievable, what can you say, it's just about the exact opposite of everything he's been throwing tantrums about all along....
I think he's more potential trouble than any benefit that he could possibly bring, so on that basis take a hike Barry.

Re: Leyton Orient bid to ground-share with West Ham
In a few years when the OS goest tits up finanacially as we all know it will, the government will be looking at someone to bail it out.
As sitting tennants I would guess we would have a right to buy first ? We could then do what we like regarding running track etc. If there were TWO tennants then it could throw a spanner in the works

That's the first thought that crossed my mind.Napoleon Solo wrote:Gold and Sullivan will agree to any ground sharing idea if there's a chance of making even more money out of the Olympic Stadium move
Obviously, even if its nothing like a 50-50 split, they would expect assistance in the costs for the retractable seating.
I see this is now being quoted as £10M. What a round figure!

Re: Now Hearn wants to ground share
Looks to me that Hearn realises he has no chance of winning a legal fight now so has changed tack. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't have much to bargain with now.

Re: Now Hearn wants to ground share
Let's also bear in mind with a game every weekend and some midweek games too plus cup ties etc. there will be a lot of strain on the pitch which needs to be maintained also. West Ham need a perfect pitch to execute Big Sam's gameplan down to the last detail, so I don't want Orient messing that up with playing their games there too...
Besides, how will Hearn pay for the groundshare anyway ? I presume he will do a calculation that'll go along the lines of "We have only 5000 supporters per game, which translates to 1/12 of capacity, so we will only pay 1/12 of the maintenance costs..."

Yep, it looks like the game is up for Hearn with this being his last roll of the dice.
I hope G&S tell him to do one!

Re: Now Hearn wants to ground share
Wouldn't a ground share stop us playing on the same weekends as Orient? Would improve their situation compared to now, even if the distance is reduced.
Re: Now Hearn wants to ground share
I really don't think that what they could bring to the table would balance the nuisances that a ground share would entail.
