Maybe the extra 700 WHUFC employees Karen has stated will be employed because of the move will be the poor bastards having to drag the seats forward. There was mention of the athletics stadium holding various world class sporting events, maybe she is bidding for the Worlds Strongest Man competition and they can do stadium pulling instead of pulling trucks and busses

To be fair , the club always said it wanted sole use in the winter so that's what they got.
UK athletics would of been better off with crystal Palace being revamped as the spuds wanted then they would of got a 365 stadium.

What a load of utter ****ing *****.

UK Diamond League meetings have to be held in Birmingham because Crystal Palace is such a ****hole and no amount of "upgrading" will turn it from a supermarket extension into a decent stadium.. But there are bigger issues than that.

It isn't a coincidence that the only non-Olympic UK event that Bolt has run was at the OS last year. Oh, and that we got the 2017 World's because we have a stadium that is fit for them, in just about the highest profile location outside central London and which, by then, will be covered in WHU branding.

There would have been two ideal scenarios, 1.redeveloping crystal palace and turning the o.s into a proper stadium. 2, the original plan of removing the upper tier and keeping it as an athletics and other events stadium. We could have then turned upton park into a 40,000+ stadium after redeveloping the chicken run, these plans were in place years ago and were shelved due to relegation, why do we need one of the biggest stadiums in the country when we struggle to sellout upton park without all the deals.

Seriously! Going over & over the same points made years ago yet again!! :asleep:

Here goes - Groundhog Day yet again..
e10hammer wrote:There would have been two ideal scenarios.
If you want to talk about the 'Ideal Scenario' it would have been the original offer West Ham made back in 2006 before a single brick was laid. That offer was a £100m contribution *if* the plans were changed to make it a multi-purpose Football and Athletics stadium, with Retractable Seating as part of the Project from the outset. That would have meant a far better design for the Stadium in 'Football' mode, instead of the hugely expensive and time-consuming Retro-Fit compromise we have to settle for now - i.e. seats far closer to the pitch, no large gap between the Upper and Lower Tiers, a steeper seating slope angle, etc, etc.
Unfortunately Mr Coe and his fellow idiots said no..

Would have only meant Sperz moving to Newham. Tottenham could afford to do this. West Ham could not.
e10hammer wrote:2, the original plan of removing the upper tier and keeping it as an athletics and other events stadium.
The original plan was probably the biggest load of bo||ox in the history of planning. Hence why it has been completely abandoned and the politicians now hugely embarrassed by that shambles!
Athletics in this country has never got even 10,000 on a regular basis, let alone 25,000!! Beyond the one-offs of the Olympics and World Championships the ground would never have been been more than 20% full! The morons like 'Lord' Coe who hatched this idea thought they could easily rent the stadium to a Rugby Club or lower league Football Club, but they all basically said 'f**k off' to the Running Track (there was no Retractable Seating considered at the time). Even Hearn turned his nose up at it!

Can barely be bothered to answer this yet again, but the pro-move supporters have pointed out over & over that an increased Boleyn capacity will make the match-day transport & accessibility issues even worse. Meanwhile many former Season Ticket holders, now Armchair fans due to having young families, are waiting to return to matches with their kids once the journey and surroundings become more appealing.

Typically at least 95% of the Boleyn is always sold. The only Adult Matchday tickets left available are Band A seats often over £50 each! A bigger stadium means more tickets available in the lower Bands. It also means for the big games, which easily Sell Out the Boleyn, more people who want to attend can now attend.
Additionally Transport and Accessibility add to the attraction of of return by former fans with young kids, as I already mentioned.

Why pay for something that's not required? Seems perfect sense to me. They only need the seats in the back position for the summer, so each year there will be 2 moves. One back in May, one forward in August. Some hugely expensive and complicated electric or pneumatic system would be a waste of money.

If you have been given 7 days to move the seats, then take seven days and do it a cheap as you can.

IFC
im not gonna bother pasting your comments, but,
you quote as if you have factual proof of what you say. what former season ticket holders are waiting in the wing, and if there is why.If Accessibility is used as a reason not to go theres a good chance they may find another excuse not to go,
do i know that,
no
then again neither do you
how do you know what tickets are left when not sold out. normally the gaps are in the upper corners of the west and BM, band 3 i think, not band 1.
The club have not revealed the ticket prices so again you are speculating that there will be more tickets in the lower band.
this though has been done to Death on here many a time.

You are right regarding lord Coe and the whole o.s design shambles, they must be well pleased we have broke our necks to get there. I don't believe for one minute we have 20,000 fans waiting in the wings, whose reason for not attending Upton park is transport issues and ticket prices, I can leave Upton park and be on a train in 20mins (plaistow or east ham) As for ticket prices there have been three half price member games this season, prices starting for adults at £19and kids £7 and numerous kids for a quid games, hardly any of these games sold out in advance, maybe this is the reason why thousands of tickets will be given away free at the o.s to our community supporters as was done at a non sold out Upton park this season, I hope our season ticket holders who pay their money up front realize they will be paying more for their tickets than many people with their freebies and deals.

Anyone who think the stadium will be a magnet for bringing fans back is deluded ! I know loads of people who stopped going years ago and they have no plans on returning , add to that the number of fans who wont be renewing ! Sad times ahead for this club
