New stadium - Atmosphere. Wheres everyone sitting?

Post by one mcavennie »

We'll obviously all wanna get this place rocking and create an amazing atmosphere. Ok it won't be like the old days of the North bank, South bank and the Chicken Run but we'll need to do all we can to get the place jumping. It'll bore the life out of me if it turns into a library like we sometimes see at home games

The question is then, Wheres everyone going? Where you all sitting? Where's gonna be the place to go?

Season ticket or day tripper, a recognised area of some sort I think will seriously be needed. I'd suggest near where the away fans will be

Let's get the place jumping :scarfer:

Or have you not all got as far as thinking about this yet?!

shame this has been moved to the 'Olympic stadium' thread section.

I think the issue of the atmosphere needs maximum attention, but unfortunately most people won't get a as far as browsing any further than the 'Genearl discussion' threads, so won't have a chance to discuss it

The friendly during the week made me think about just how bad the OS could possibly be.

Idiot youngsters acting like they're in a supply class moving about all over the place with gunfingers and cheering Man United players louder than anyone else. People wanting to sit down in parts of the ground that need to be standing areas.

If we don't get the BML/Chav Corner lot situated together and standing at the OS, the atmosphere could be the worst in the league.

Here's a good piece on atmosphere. About Chelsea but very relevant to the OS.

How can we tell you where we will be sitting/standing when the club have yet to publish plans and tell us where the bands will be situated? They obviously know and it will be all over the internet as soon as the first people go for their interviews, they don't need to publish prices just provide the information they already have.

A concerted effort from those with influence is needed to ensure the club recognise a "singing" area is a priority sorry if it's not very West Ham but now most have accepted se will be moving lets do all we can to shape our new home.

Jack Sullivan asked his followers (not doubt under the instruction of Daddy) whether they wanted a 'singing section' and the response back was a unanimous 'NO'

Maybe if they didn't call it a 'singing section' they would have had a better response.

^^ really?? I don't believe it. Why would we not want a singing section??!!

This would make absolute perfect sense. Would be perfect! I'd snap up a season ticket in this part of the ground immediately

How is that relevant? Chelsea have always had poor support and it got worse when the Prawn Sandwich brigade turned up off the back of their success

Obviously we are or we wouldn't be having this debate

the acoustics in the new place will be unreal, unfortunately this could mean the away lot sounding that much louder

The cheap seats will be where you find the best atmosphere, like it or not, should offer extra incentives to get the younger lot into these areas

Like it or not, it's the younger lot who will show more enthusiasm generally to getting the noise going and will build momentum week on week with it

How far do you go back? In the seventies and eighties Chelsea had a similar support to us, possibly made just as much noise, but all clubs had better and noisier support before all seater stadia came in.

With success and higher prices a different type of fan predominates, we need to do our best to avoid similar happening to West Ham. Anyone who attends our games must admit that, as a stadium, we are a lot quieter than we used to be and there is a risk of becoming as bad as Chelsea or Arsenal.

If the club really base their plans on what a few hundred numpties post to a teenage boy on twitter they really are idiots. Is there any test of how many games you have attended and whether you would go to the OS in order to become a follower now?

Do the Emirates and Etihad sections behind the goals stand all game, like we do in the TBL and BML?

What 'proper' support??! :eh:

It's just got worse & worse over the years since all-seater stadium and rising ticket prices during harsh economic times pricing out the working-class but perhaps the more vocal fan.

Something needs to be done to allow the like-minded to congregate together like they used to do on the terracing in the old North & South Banks. Simply shrugging our shoulders and continuing with the same system of randomly allocated seats isn't going to 'magically' solve the issue of an atmosphere that's deteriorating week in, week out.

I make 'one mcavennie' absolutely right on this one.

What a load of old crap, it doesn't matter what stadium we're in. But rather than being asked whether people want a "singing section" they should just price certain sections cheap enough so that lower earners and youths can get in. Problem solved, ending up with the best atmosphere in the premier.
Tickets for the classes that made the game the huge success it is today, but now no longer welcome !

A singing section or what ever we decide to call it is a great idea and is the way foward if we want to stop the decline in the atmosphere at football , as i think youll find that the "singing" section would get bigger and bigger as the seasons pass ! You never know it may even get close to days of old where the whole ground comes together as one !
