Sadly, it will never, ever happen. The run-offs at Brands are far too short and the wooded area around the GP circuit is mostly protected. I also believe there would be huge issues with local noise restrictions and circuit access problems.

Brands is so much better a circuit that Silverstone its not even funny but will never again host a modern F1 race.

Agree, will be there next weekend for BSB.

Brands would be absolutely awful traffic wise for an event on the scale of F1, it's bad enough when it's BSB.

Now it's the turn of Valteri Bottas to suffer a gearbox problem and he'll have a five place grid penalty at Silverstone.

Mercedes say the problem which also affected Hamilton in Austria is "Understood and contained".

It's no surprise that Silverstone have run losses in 2015 and 2016 since Santander stopped sponsoring it. There was no main sponsor for those two years! Rolex are sponsoring it this year so I suspect they will have the running costs covered, and this is an attempt to get money from either F1 or the government.

You can blame Bernie Eccleston for this.

Money grabbing old git. He's driven, pardon the pub, the who sport into the ground. Chasing dirty cash, at the expense of what matters most, the actual spectacle. Creating dull Tilke designed circuits in rich outposts, with no spectacle to engage viewers or fans, other than scenery

Donnington almost went bust chasing his demands and criteria, Silverstone could have easily gone the same way if they hadn't seen sense.

Lewis P1 1:26.6 - 0.5 clear of KR in P2, 0.7 in front of Vettel's P3

Brilliant qualifying lap from Lewis and thankfully, no penalty for incident with Grosjean. Would've been very cruel luck to have that lap count for nothing with a grid penalty. This really is a must win race for Hamilton, he needs to get some momentum going.

An easy ride for Lewis so far, Danny Ric having a blinder from the back. The moaning German is 3rd at the moment.

Vettel gets a puncture on the penultimate lap :D .

Both Ferrari's pushed it too much and punctured towards the end.

Lewis one point behind now.

I expect Lewis to be past Bottas by the end of the first lap then gun it to the chequered flag.

End on a victory and take the world championship trophy on the top podium.

One of the many things wrong with F1 was highlighted today, namely a faster car/driver can easily get to within a second or so of the car in front, and that's it. No further progress.

Too much reliance on aero.

To be fair that depends on the track. Abu Dhabi is a pile of **** and will never produce great passes.

2017 was a pretty dull season tbh.

Dominated yet again by Mercedes and Hamilton.

Verstappen is fast becoming my new hero on track with his blood and thunder approach.

Vettel made it mildly competitive for a while but his "german instinct" got the better of him mid-season.

Hopefully 2018 will bring a more reliable and faster Mclaren, The Ferraris' and Redbulls' get closer to Mercedes.......and someone gives Perez a smack. Horrible little turd.

Kubica on the verge of signing for Williams. If he's anywhere near what he was before his accident, it could be interesting.
