It doesn't feel like very long ago when he was breaking through and there were real doubts that he could be a test bowler.

I'd say you made it Jimmy.

Broad finally gets some reward. 2 down now.

Jimmy is a Legend if he was Indian he'd be treated like a god, instead we idolized people like Rooney :fsake:

Sir Jimmy. What a legend.

He'd probably be past Pigeon McGrath if he hadn't had those wilderness years where they tried to change his action. 64 more is a big ask at his age to become the greatest seamer ever.

Wicket 501 was a piece of absolute beauty. Clipping off stump bail.

I agree with Wolf. The bloke is a true English sporting great.

What a wonderful test ... the joys of Jimmy and Blowers have truly marked this series. I think I am of that age that is really willing a resurgence in Windies cricket and hopefully the likes of Shai Hope et al will see that.

Interesting to hear Blofeld confirm that Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld was in fact named after Henry Blofeld's father. He was friends with Ian Fleming years ago.

No way is he the best ever. Amazing in English conditions perfectly suited for his skills where the ball swings easily compared with other parts of the world. But he cannot be judged as a the very best we've produced simply by studying his stats when bowling away from home:

Massive contrast.

Same as me. Some of their younger players could become legendary.

How many of Murali's and Kumble's wickets were taken on their home turf dust bowls?

If he stays injury free the stats could say that he's the best ever seamer in test cricket over Mcgrath.

So, if Jimmy Anderson isn't the answer, who is the greatest English bowler of all time? Not given much thought myself yet but I can't think of too many better in my lifetime of watching cricket (since the mid 70s).

I think, and really hope, that he'll get the extra 64 needed

I hope we have a 5 seamer attacker in Australia. Hopefully keep Anderson fresh, he will be so important.

If fit, what would everyone's 11 be for Australia?

Fantastic career for Henry Blofeld, I will miss him on TMS. By far the best radio programme out.

Motty & Blowers gone from commentary box by the end of next year.

Who are the modern replacements? Gary Neville and Graeme Swann??

They don't make 'em like they used to!
