This was driver

Smash factor of 1.48 (max machine is suppose to read is 1.5)

Smash factor is excellent.

Do you mind me asking your age (roughly). The club head speed seems low, if you could increase that then you'd be hitting it a very long way.

Yeah my speed is pathetic ain’t it?!! I can’t seem to get faster but I am working on it

I hit one at 88 but lost all distance because the smash went to 1.3

At end I hit one 81 with 1.49 smash went 195 carry

I’ve got a swing tempo trainer I’m hoping to start seeing in the 90s at least

I’m a very out of shape 32 year old

I mean I have a replacement ligament in my left knee, a left arm that won’t straighten, platia facittis in both feet and now a on and off bad back

Don’t think my excess weight helps them tho lol

I know the modern thing is speed over anything and let the new clubs handle the rest, but I still think its a game of timing.

Its a strange game golf. Iffy putters are banned from using clubs and techniques that help them. Iffy drivers and iron players can have all their issues solved legally,

Id keep hitting it as you are fella. If your swing speed does increase make sure its not at the sacrifice of anything else. Distance isn't everything.

While watching the Masters I made a specific point of looking at their shoulders and upper arms, how fast they moved. With one or two exceptions (Woods, McIlroy) they swung a lot slower than I expected. Maybe 'slower' is the wrong word, 'easier' may be more accurate. There was certainly none of the frantic slashing you see on courses up and down the country. Timing plus timing with an added helping of timing according to my pro. "Timing of what, exactly?" "The release. Waiting until the right moment to unleash the stored power, with the emphasis on waiting."

See Ernie Els or Fred Couples.

Us mere mortals should watch the lady pros . Their swings are “slower” but timed so well

Average swing speed 93 mph which is near what amateurs swing

^^^^^ Can't disagree with that. When I was a wage slave I covered some LPGA events including a couple of British Opens. Watching tiny Korean ladies belt it miles down the middle has to make anyone realise it's not all about physical effort.

In my society one the lads brings his son

He is a golf prodigy, when I played a round with him first he was 12 off 2.5, then he was 13 off 1.5 now I believe he is 14 and off scratch

He just won some title for his age group for his club

There is nothing to him. But that first round we played 550 par 5 he drove 270 down the middle got on in 2.. lipped out an eagle and tapped in for birdie

Not sure at 14 that counts as prodigy these days. There have been about 5 lads at my place off +1 or 2 by 14. The best of them managed to get into a 2nd tier US college.

Robin 'Tiger' Williams (the young lad who was given an entry to the Britsh Masters by Sky) is a member at my club and has been for several years. Amazing to watch his development.

He's a lovely lad. Some nice shots of my home club here as well.

The levels have gone up so much VM. I remember being staggered a few years ago talking about a kid who was +4 at 16 and had no chance of making it.

Obviously ability has a lot to do with it but as we all know its the mental strength that makes the difference. Even at our our level the head game is so important, my old coach used to tell me he's beat me every time if he had my game with his thinking.

Interesting chart, shows I'm under performing with my driver and longer clubs. I 'drop and stop' my PW at 105 yards but a good drive rolls to around 210.

Must do better. Or stop trying to hit the cover off it.
