Kyle Edmund through to the Aussie Semi finals and will come up against Marin Cilic on Thursday

He will also overtake Andy Murray as Britain's Number 1,
wether he has the potential to go all the way is still uncertain... but at least we have some British interest deep into the second week...

Fantastic from Edmund and with Nadal retiring injured he has a great chance of making the final. Cilic will be a tough hurdle to clear but on current form, Edmund has a chance. Trouble is, should he upset the odds again and make the final, the likelihood is that there will be a certain Roger Federer waiting for him. Whatever happens, Edmund has had a great start to to 2018 and who would have thought that Andy Murray would be No 2 ranked British player when he makes his comeback in the summer?

Depends on what cilic turns up, the one against Nadal has the game to beat anyone but he's still liable to have a bad game... Either way the semi final is a great achievement and puts him as a worthy number GB number 1...

Would be great at Wimbledon if we could have 3 brits in the latter stages, the LTA association need to do something to be bringing more players through as until now it didn't look like their would be someone to replace Murray as a contender...

There's an article on the times about how 10 years after Bjorn Borg, they had 5 players in the top 25 of the world... yet we consistently only manage one

On a general point about Edmund.

He has weapons. ..The forehand is big enough, very big at times and the serve is decent now.. The fitness has improved massively. Movement is ok, though not special.

His biggest problem at the moment is unforced errors. He needs to nail down his game, like Murray or Djokovic could do. Just cut out the silly stuff at times because that will cost him at the highest level.

But he is on a steady upward curve..........and the "steady" bit is a good thing.

Nice build too. Not too heavy but nice n tall.

No doubt the Davis Cup ( though he didn't always play) victory and spending time training with Murray in Miami have given him a lift and an insight into the very top of the game.

Nice chap too.

It seems as though the Kyle Edmund Australian Open adventure maybe coming to an end, he's just lost second set on a tie break to go 2-0 down to Cilic and has been broken in 3rd. He looks like he has run out of gas.

Federer is smugness personified, but a helluva tennis player. He manages his game schedule according to his age and injuries, something Andy Murray should look at too.
I see no reason why Federer can't win Wimbledon again this year.

Haterz hate.

Federer is the best, most complete player to date.

He does make a fuss, spent years to rebuild himself and is a gent of field. Pro to the core.

Yeah I don't get the Fed hate. He doesn't complain or moan about decisions nor is he ungracious in defeat.
