Winter Olympics

Post by Bend it like Repka »

No thread? It's started!

Already a big blow for team GB with Katie Ormerod breaking her ankle in training.

Really hoping Ellie Christie finds redemption this time around by getting a gold.

Really enjoyed the snowboarding , some of the 'air' they get (see I'm down with the kids) was amazing.

The Winter Olympics are great. I don't have a clue what's going on but it all looks amazing, dangerous and terrifying.

The tricks that were stomped on slopestyle were immense.

Those kickers are huge and the landings are bullet proof ice. To see things such as Double Cork 1260s just landed so easy is a thing of beauty.

Just watched Felix Loch the Olympic champion lose the luge on his last run, one mistake in that sport can be crucial, good watch though.

Yea she was robbed there, the dutch girl clearly kicked her hand away.

I've watched a lot of the snowboarding which is very entertaining, particularly the womens one that they weirdly did in high winds where something like 3/4 of the competitors fell over on at least one jump.

In other news, Australia currently have one more medal than us. How is that possible? Have they ever even had snow there?

They've actually got quite a few ski resorts in Australia, more so than here I imagine!

Also, they get over to New Zealand a lot, some good snow over there.

He ought to concentrate on trying to make the US Olympic Skateboarding team in 2020. At 35, he may be past his best, but he's still an X-Games gold medallist and has the ability to pull off the hardest tricks in competition conditions.

I was in the Blue Mountains a couple of years ago and blizzards closed a number of roads and having travelled expecting warm weather, the family and I ended up wearing about seven layers of clothing to keep warm. Only about an hour from Sydney, you can spend the morning skiiing and go surfing after lunch.

Surely then this is the greatest place on earth? Why do more people not know? And more specifically what crimes do I need to commit to get in?

Probably the following;-
- drink lager that would ordinarily pass as piss elsewhere in the world
- commit crimes against fashion like wearing acid denim
- make your voice go up at the end of every sentence so it sounds like a question

love you Aussies really!!
