Re: Superbowl thread
Goff has had some chances to make some big plays but hasn't done it yet...
ooh ! that film clip of that lad breaking his arm wasn't nice........
good defensive display...
and the Yanks HATE football (soccer) games that end up 0-0
the arguments I have had with people about that very thing....I always ask, but why do all the t.v. channels and newspapers go ape shyte over a no-hitter..???
their best reply is "But at least they're trying to hit the ball...."
see the Gooners guy in the stand...
Stan Kroenke is an American businessman and entrepreneur. He is the owner of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, which is the holding company of English Premier League football club Arsenal, the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL, Denver Nuggets of the NBA, Colorado Avalanche of the NHL, Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer, Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League, and the newly formed Los Angeles Gladiators of the Overwatch League.
The Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche franchises are currently owned by his wife, Ann Walton Kroenke, to satisfy NFL ownership restrictions that forbid a team owner from owning teams in other markets.[3] Ann is the daughter of Walmart co-founder James "Bud" Walton.
He was estimated to be worth US$8.5 billion by Forbes in 2018.
and we have Abbott and Costello

me too, he could have tried to pull them offside on a hard count......
still I presume it won the game for them because the field goal went in and now I can't get a stream
13-3 with about 1:30 left so I presume it's all over - I ain't missing anything by watching the celebration that's for sure...
the half time show was bloody awful...

Re: Superbowl thread
Not the greatest game, but you have to admire defence at times so you can appreciate the skill needed for great offensive plays.
Think Osi & Bell summed it up pretty well, Belichick identified Goff as the weak link, took away all his weapons and said you go and win it son on your own ability. He was lost last night. Even when he finally got time to pass he made terrible choices and rushed the pass.
I don't like the Pats, but Belichick is clearly one of the greatest coaches in all sporting history. He just keeps producing winning teams regardless of all the obstacles and personell changes over time. The NFL is designed for parity yet he keeps bucking the trend.

Re: Superbowl thread
they probably haven't had anywhere close to the first pick for maybe 7 or 8 years....or more
always picks around 28-31st my guess would be.......................................gonna pick 31st this year I think
he thumbs his nose at the NFL and their "parity" label...
he plans to take away the other teams strengths...
he isn't like "we have the best qb tight end and receiving core in the nfl - they don't so he plans accordingly..
pragmatic last night ? a bit yeah but would bet the Pats fans ain't annoyed that they didn't lose 43-42..

Re: Superbowl thread
Yeah. Somehow he wins games week in week out with an offence that only exists of an immobile quaterback, a decent running back, a tight end and 1 wide receiver who only runs short routes.
Genius.
Genius.

Re: Superbowl thread
he seems to be like the old Raider days......
without the swagger
takes cast offs or no ones or whatever and gets the very best out of them
I don't profess to knows the NFL inside out like a lot of the lads on here from the States or probably the knowledgeable one who follow it faithfully from the UK
but
year in year out they never have a first pick, never have even a top 10 (as far as I can remember) but that's 6 wins now in the SB.
runner up last year that could have gone their way too.
Brady is what 40 ? 41 ? Gronk is Gronk and Edelman is a wide receiver - 32 now - 7th round pick (had to look all of that up) who's not even 6 ft tall (according to Wiki)
genius coach as you say mate........

Re: Superbowl thread
Missed this thread at the time. It certainly wasn't that entertaining but was certainly fascinating. As a previous poster said Goff just didn't know what to do with himself and threw the ball away countless times. A tactical masterclass from Bellichek.
As a Ram fan we'll learn from this (especially Goff & McVay) and hopefully we can get back there again next year.

Re: Superbowl thread
Pats have a national (frontrunning) fan base. Rams franchise suffers from having moved 4 times and is back in LA for only a few years, a city that was just fine not having an NFL team for 20 years. Assuming they continue to play well then they'll develop a more substantial following. There are maybe 10 teams that have a loyal constituency that will make an effort to travel and see the team: Steelers, Packers and Cowboys most notably.Bend it like Repka wrote:Seems the stadium is 75% Patriots bizarrely. Giants: 1987, 1991, 2008, 2012
Pats: 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, 2019
so they have won more in the past 17 years than your team has in it's life time

Kraft has admitted that it still eats at him constantly.
Belichick, in his heart has to be bothered that he couldn't beat Coughlin. Their rivalry goes all the way back to the 1988 Giants, where both were assistants and had faced each other in practice every day.
