Toffees star fancies London move
20080625 08:54
Striker Andy Johnson is reported to have revealed he would only consider a move to West Ham should Everton agree to sell him.
Johnson has been linked with several big money moves away from Goodison Park with Aston Villa, Wigan and Middlesbrough all said to be interested in signing him as well as West Ham.

Hammers boss Alan Curbishley and Villa manager Martin O'Neill appear to be the front runners to sign the England striker, who cost £8.6 million from Crystal Palace two years ago.
But West Ham look to be in pole position if Everton make him available as Johnson is said to have told reporters during a recent visit of former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson to Birmingham that he would only consider a move to West Ham should the Toffees agree to sell him.

Pantsil plans Hammers stay

Ghana ace claims interest from other clubs

Last updated: 25th June 2008

Pantsil: Happy at Upton Park

West Ham defender John Pantsil says he plans to stay at Upton Park despite attracting interest from other clubs.

The Ghana international struggled to hold down a regular place in the Hammers starting XI last season, but impressed after getting a run in the side at the back end of the campaign.
The 27-year-old claims other clubs have expressed an interest in signing him, but Pantsil says he is happy at West Ham.

"Some clubs have made attempts to lure me," Pantsil told ModernGhana. "But what I can say for now is that I am happy at West Ham United and I am prepared to stay on.

"My manager Alan Curbishley is highly impressed with my output so far and is not prepared to let me go - therefore I will stay at the club

West Ham continue to be linked with players plying their trade in Serie A with Gianluca Nani's influence at Upton Park likely to be felt this summer.

The technical director's talent-spotting skills are set to boost Alan Curbishley's transfer policy during the close season with a number of names already thrown into the mix.

Brescia's Marius Stankevicius has been mentioned in English press reports although Sampdoria appear to be favourites to sign the Lithuanian.

Nani worked at Brescia and the 26-year-old defender will be well known to him but Samp are primed to beat off competition to land the €4 million (£3.17 million)-rated star.

Meanwhile, Palermo striker Edison Cavani continues to be forwarded as a possible target for the East Londoners.

The Uruguayan is believed to be available in a loan deal but, again, there is plenty of interest from elsewhere in his talents.

Porto are rumoured to have joined Bologna and Lazio in the chase for his signature

Gianluca Nani is ready to start raiding his former club Brescia to strengthen West Ham’s defence.
His first target is Lithuanian international Marius Stankevicius.

Marius Stankevicius a 6′ 3″ Defender is 26 years old and has made over 100 appearances for the Italian club Brescia and has 25 caps for his National club Lithuania.

Nani has been very impressed with the defender and says Stankevicius has great energy and stamina and would be ideal for West Ham.

Gianluca Nani is ready to raid more clubs in Europe for players that will enrich West Ham’s future as a top premiership club.

From the Daily Mirror
West Ham technical director Gianluca Nani wants to make Raul Bobadilla his first signing.

Argentinian Bobadilla, 21, scored 18 goals last season for Grasshoppers Zurich and the striker is the sort of player Nani is under orders to sign. He would cost £3million.

West Ham are anxious to trim their squad, with Anton Ferdinand, Freddie Ljungberg and Bobby Zamora among those who will be allowed to leave.

Hammers slap £8m tag on Anton

West Ham have slapped an £8million price tag on central defender Anton Ferdinand who is reported to be a target for Aston Villa.

Villa manager Martin O'Neill is contemplating whether to firm up his interest in the Hammers player.

West Ham are not looking to offload Ferdinand, the brother of Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand.

The fact Ferdinand's agent has not been in contact with the club looking for a new contract has been interpreted as a signal that the player may look for fresh pastures.

But West Ham would be unwilling to let Ferdinand go on the cheap. And, if reports that Villa are preparing to make a £6million bid prove correct, the figure will fall well short of their valuation of the player.

O'Neill is keen to bring in a new centre-back following the departure of Olof Mellberg to Juventus and with Curtis Davies not likely to have recovered from his ruptured Achilles until September-October time.

That leaves the former Celtic boss with only two experienced centre-backs in Martin Laursen and Zat Knight.

A source close to the Hammers said: "West Ham don't want Anton to go but his agent has not been in looking for a new contract so something might happen.

"They certainly would not let him go for £6million and would not be interested in any figure under £8million."

West Ham's determination to get a substantial price for Ferdinand may be swayed by the fact they had to pay Birmingham £9million for Matthew Upson 18 months ago.

Sunday mirror 29-06-08

Aston Villa are closing in on a £10million move for West Ham's Anton Ferdinand.

The 23-year-old has emerged as a prime target for Villa manager Martin O'Neill, who is looking to reinforce his defence following the departure of Olof Mellberg to Juventus.

O'Neill wants a player of proven experience and Ferdinand fits the bill.

Villa have also enquired about Getafe's 29-year-old defender Cata Diaz. He was one of the stars in La Liga last season and has been checked by Barcelona and Tottenham. But because of his age none of the clubs chasing him is prepared to meet Getafe's £6m price.

AdvertisementDespite being born in Argentina Diaz has a Spanish passport, which would allow him to play in the Premier League without any work permit requirements.

Diaz said: "I'd love the chance to play in England but I am under contract at Getafe until June 2012 so my future is in their hands."

Ferdinand - brother of England and Manchester United star Rio - has been plagued by injuries over recent seasons and West Ham are now ready to cash in to provide manager Alan Curbishley with money to strengthen his squad.

The defender could be one of several players to leave Upton Park this summer.

Also on his way could be former Arsenal man Freddie Ljungberg, who is paid a reported £80,000 a week. He could be joined by the likes of Bobby Zamora. To replenish their strike force, West Ham are ready to make a £7.5m bid for Reading's Kevin Doyle, who was the subject of regular checks by Curbishley's scouting team last season.

Reading could also cash in on midfielder James Harper, a target for Middlesbrough and Fulham.

West Ham will hold showdown talks with club captain Lucas Neill over his future.

Neill joined in January 2007 but his deal runs out next summer and the West Ham board will be reluctant to let him leave on a free transfer.

The Australian was handed the captain's armband last season.

Midfielder Kieron Dyer is hoping Neill will stay. He said: "He is by far the best captain I have ever had. As a player if you have got a problem, he will sort it out. He is a great man."

What a load of b*llocks. ****ing Doyle for £7.75m

Stoke to move for West Ham's Gabbidon

By Ian Ferris - June 29, 2008

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is ready to test West Ham's resolve to keep centre-half Danny Gabbidon at Upton Park by making a £2million bid.
The Potters boss is desperate to sign an experienced defender to play at the heart of his defence and has already been linked with out-of-favour Tottenham centre-back Anthony Gardner.

Gabbidon, 28, joined the Hammers in July 2005 but has only made 57 Premier League starts during his time at the club and has been troubled by a niggling groin strain over recent months.

Guardian online.....

WEST HAM boss Alan Curbishley could be about to bring a former Chelsea fans' favourite to Upton Park.

The West Ham boss is weighing up a bid for Barcelona forward Eidur Gudjohnsen as he looks to boost his attacking options ahead of the new season.

The Catalan giants would be looking for around £5 million for a player who has not performed as highly in La Liga as he had done during his six years in west London.

A return to London would signal an end to a two-year absence from England for the Icelandic international, and he may well be tempted to move to the Boleyn in a bid to re-discover his goalscoring form.

West Ham have an array of attacking options with Craig Bellamy, Dean Ashton, Bobby Zamora, Carlton Cole and promising youngster Freddie Sears already at the club.

However, with poor form shown in front of goal last season, Curbishley may be looking to sign Gudjohnsen to freshen up competition for first team places.

The Hammers will be keen to improve on their tenth place finish last season when, after an extremely encouraging start, their season petered out into mid-table mediocrity.

Aston Villa have turned to Green in the wake of Scott Carson's return to Liverpool. Photograph: Joe Giddens/PA

Aston Villa have identified West Ham United's Robert Green as a potential target as Martin O'Neill steps up his search for a new goalkeeper following Scott Carson's return to Liverpool at the end of last season. The Villa manager, who has also been monitoring the availability of Tottenham Hotspur's Paul Robinson, is understood to have added Green's name to his short-list, with the former Norwich player likely to command a fee in the region of £6m.

Tottenham will seek close to that figure for Robinson, who has no future at White Hart Lane under Juande Ramos and would welcome the chance to resurrect his career at Villa Park after surrendering his position as England's No1 last season. Green, however, has emerged as another possible option for O'Neill, with the 28-year-old's contractual position at Upton Park presenting a window of opportunity that the Villa manager could be tempted to capitalise on.

Although Green remains tied to a long-term deal at West Ham, he is known to be frustrated that his impressive performances last term, when he was named supporters' player of the year and earned a recall to the England squad, have not been rewarded with an improved contract to bring his salary in line with many of his team-mates. With no talks currently planned between the club and the player, Villa would appear to be in a strong position to entice Green to the Midlands.

The goalkeeping position has become a priority for O'Neill in the wake of Carson's departure. Villa had been expected to sign Carson on a permanent deal this summer when the loan agreement with Liverpool was set up last August, but the player's disappointing form in the wake of his calamitous performance for England against Croatia last November has effectively ended OíNeillís interest and prompted Robinson, Green and the American Brad Guzan to come under the microscope.

Green, who has yet to add to the England cap he won in 2005 when he appeared as a substitute against Colombia, might well be deemed the most attractive prospect of the three goalkeepers, although Villa will be mindful that West Ham, despite their failure to enter into new contract talks with the player, are likely to be reluctant sellers. The same cannot be said for Tottenham with Robinson, a factor that could be crucial with Villa competing in the Intertoto Cup in less than three weeks.

O'Neill, meanwhile, will meet face to face with Gareth Barry tomorrow for the first time since the Villa captain publicly criticised the Irishman at the weekend. The Villa players are due to report back for pre-season training and Barry, despite making clear his desire to leave the club, is contractually obliged to attend. Villa are anticipating a fourth bid from Liverpool for the England international but it appears highly unlikely that the midfielder's future will be resolved before tomorrow

Robinson To Villa 'Within 48 Hours'

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is said to be only hours away from completing the signing of England's former number one Paul Robinson.

Despite concurrent reports suggesting that Aston Villa may turn to West Ham United's Robert Green to solve their goalkeeping problem, the Daily Mirror is claiming that Villa boss Martin O'Neill will tie up a £5million deal for Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper Paul Robinson within the next 48 hours.

The newspaper says O'Neill will talk to Robinson, out-of-favour at White Hart Lane under manager Juande Ramos, to finalise a transfer to Villa Park.

It has become clear that Robinson has no long-term future with Tottenham, particularly since Ramos has brought in two new keepers in the last week: Heurelho Gomes and Mirko Ranieri.

Robinson lost confidence, form, and his place ion both the England and Tottenham teams over the past year, and has made it clear that he feels moving to Villa would give his career the fresh start it desperately needs.

He has not figured in the Spurs first team since March, while Villa's need for a new goalkeeper is well known, with loanee Scott Carson, between the sticks for the Villans last season, having returned to parent club Liverpool.

CROATIAN FANCIES WEST HAM MOVE

West Ham could be on the verge of signing Croatian hotshot Josip Tadic after the striker admitted he would love to move to Upton Park.

Tadic, a 20-year-old goal-getter, is tipped to move to West Ham by numerous reports in Croatia.

Currently plying his trade for Dinamo Zagreb, Tadic has also played for Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

His current contract runs until 2011, but the youngster admits it would be an honour to play for Alan Curbishley’s men.

“I don’t know what to say, I'm very surprised. In a positive way of course,” he was quoted as saying in the Croatian press.

“It would be nice to play for the club for which Slaven Bilic and Igor Stimac once played.”

Ferdinand focused on Hammers

Defender unconcerned by speculation

By Peter Fraser Last updated: 3rd July 2008

Anton Ferdinand insists that he is unaware of any interest from clubs attempting to lure him away from West Ham.

The defender is believed to be a target of Aston Villa and Newcastle as sides begin to return to pre-season training. However, Ferdinand, 23, is adamant that he will remain focused upon life at Upton Park until manager Alan Curbishley tells him otherwise.

"It's just speculation," Ferdinand told Sky Sports News while undertaking charity work in Africa.

"Until I get back to London I don't know what is going on.

"For me personally, until Alan Curbishley says I am not a West Ham player, then I will be a West Ham player. I love playing for the club."

The Hammers have made the Austrian international striker a top target this summer, but the Braga player is also attracting strong interest from FC Porto.

However, the 26-year-old Linz remains keen to try his luck in England, but the Hammers face stiff competition not just from the Portuguese club, but also from an unnamed Premier League rival.

"Porto would be a great move for Roland, it is a very exciting prospect for him, but the Premiership remains the dream move," a spokesman for his agents, FN Sports, told skysports.com.

"We are still talking to two clubs in England so we will see what develops."

Same article as Bob posted, was on SSN yesterday sheds a bit more light on the other PL clubs.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 66,00.html

Porto have jumped to the front of the queue to sign Austria striker Roland Linz, skysports.com understands.

The 26-year-old forward endured a disappointing Euro 2008 with the co-hosts, but interest in him remains strong after hitting double figures in his last two league campaigns with Braga and Boavitsa.

Fulham, Middlesbrough and West Ham had all checked on the Braga man, but he now looks set to stay in Portugal with a move to one of the country's big-hitters.

A move to Porto would see the player link up with his former Boavista manager Jesualdo Ferreira.

However, it is believed Linz would still favour a move to England with agency FN Sports confirming his desire to test himself in the Premier League.

"Porto would be a great move for Roland, it is a very exciting prospect for him to work with Ferreira again, but the Premiership remains the dream move," an FN Sports spokesman told skysports.com.

"We are still talking to two clubs in England so we will see what develops."

HAMMERS TALK: From the Guardian

Neill reportedly the subject of Galatasaray bid

WEST Ham skipper Lucas Neill could be on his way out of the club following reports that Galatasaray have tabled a bid for the defender.

Sky Sports believes that the Turkish giants have put the 30-year-old at the top of their shopping list and have already set about trying to land the player.

Neill - who joined the Irons from Blackburn in January last year - is amongst the highest-earners at Upton Park.

And that could possibly see him made a scapegoat as the club sets about trimming the wage bill in time for the new season.

im not sure how reliable this website is but...

"Transfer Rumour: Pennant for your Thoughts?

July 5, 2008

AC is setting up a bid for the Liverpool midfielder Jermaine Pennant. It seems that the ex Arsenal player wants to leave Liverpool in pursuit of playing more first team football.

West Ham’s summer plans in the transfer market are believed to be ambitious, and the acquisition of Pennant would prove that the Hammers have the intent of becoming a top 5 side.

Pennant has found himself on the fringes of a heavily rotated Liverpool side, and has shown spells of his brilliance that was expected of him when he was 16 and signed by Arsenal.

The £6.5 asking price for Pennant may be the only barrier stopping the Irons signing the player."

I cannot see one, Manchester City letting one of their best players of last season go, and two, a deal involving Luis Boa Morte? Is he the next target for City if Ronaldinho goes to elsewhere?

Tadic Unlikely To Join Hammers

The 20-year-old striker is currently one of the bright lights at Dinamo, where he shot to national prominence by scoring a hat-trick during their 6-1 victory over NK Rijeka in May, so they have no intention of letting him leave so early into his development.

Zagreb sports director Zoran Mamic got straight to the point when he told a Croatian reporter: "Tadic can't go anywhere. He will stay at Dinamo.

"We are counting on him because we believe in his ability."

Barely 24 hours after fueling rumours by saying that he would be keen on joining West Ham, Tadi admitted that he was purely reacting to press reports and that he has not had any contact with the London side.

"It is true it would be an honour for me to move to such a great club," he said. "But everything I heard about my transfer to West Ham, I read it in the newspapers.

"Nobody spoke to me about this."
